I can say with respect to my team, that purchase of proven, established players is only a short-term "fix". These players are on their way out of the game and a new team, new challenge motivates them and gets some good performances, but they inevitably fizzle out over the course of their tenure. I would say that if you get him, count on Ruud producing for just one season. You will still need to get a long-term striker.
world class goal scorer
natural winner and motivated
circa 2 million fee...peanuts in todays market
where will he fit into our strikeforce? who will make way?
I say buy him if he is truly available.....id rather have unhappy strikers who cant get a game coz we are winning every week than happy strikers relaxing in a losing team.
My heart says no, my head says yes... he's still a great player but there's the injury question for me, and the fact that he's not exactly a spring chicken.
But to be honest trying to figure out our striker situation is just too much of a headache for me!
