There are 3 recent games that feature one win, one draw & one loss concerning both of our clubs that have shown the defensive frailties of both our respective teams.
Two of them have been mentioned in this thread already ie: our 4-5 loss and our 5-1 win at WHL but nothing has been mentioned about the 4-4 draw at the Emirates last October.
After coming back from 4-2 down - it felt very much like a victory to us and it must have felt like a devestating loss to you goons after surrendering a 4-2 lead for us to draw against all the odds.
I even remember the hilarious comments made after the game - especially to hkphooey - huh! I wonder what happened to that funny little fella?
He just wasn't the same after that game, was he?
The 4-4 game at the Emirates was FANTASTIC and will live long in the memory no two ways about that Mike.
I cant remember the comments after the game on here, hell my brain is so shot i have trouble remembering my name at times, but i would imagine i was my usual unbiased and wholly polite self.
My honest opinion on that game was that Arsenal were able to score at will and were at fault only in believing we had the game won on more than one occassion.
That does not take anything away from the yiddish performance as you were simply amazing and i bet you wish Bentley was up to that week in week out.
Great Great game and if the Halloween meeting is even half as good we are all in for a treat.
There you go.
My usual unbiased and wholly polite opinion stands unsullied.
I decided long ago that I would not put my neck on the proverbiable block on a game that means so much to either side of the great divide.
Even though honours were shared in both games last season, I think it would take a very brave ( or very foolish ) man to say which side will come out on top.
I think we have both experienced euphoric highs and depressing lows watching our respective teams so I will go on the side of diplomacy and say "may the best team win"..
Even though I hope to hell it will be the lillywhites!
Yes, it was Wenger's decision to field that team and it's common knowledge that we use the Carling Cup to blood young players / other squad players on the peripheral of our first team.
My earlier post wasn't meant to denigrate your win in the Carling Cup against us, after all a win is a win. The main reason for mentioning the Boro / Man U / Shakhtar games is to prove that sometimes a side has no other option but to prioritise among competing schedules which we did back then.
Lastly, I'm a firm believer that on any given day any one team can beat another, some (e.g. The MIGHTY Arsenal) just happen to perfect doing it more regularly than others.
I will add though Mike that if our respective teams are fortunate enough to be able to call on their full squads and therefore both play to their full potential it should well live up to the 4-4 of last season and maybe even match it goal wise.
A derby against you yiddos is NEVER dull, to me anyhow, mainly because my adrenaline is pumping through my body at full throttle up until the final whistle at least.
I agree that on your day Arsenal can be a match for anyone!
But it would be a very foolish thing to do to underestimate your opposition's chances before they have actually played against you.
Write off our chances at your peril!
"Write off our chances at your peril! "
Mike, some yids have already done so on your board (see below).
Re: The next four games...thread
