Ed is quite right about B liar and Bush, but this is about what John and others are saying. It would be right to just honour and respect all our fallen in any war and start another thread about Bush and his puppy if you like, but keep this one for respect only.
Having recently visited Ypres, the Menin Gate and the huge war cemetary's, and today being today, I just wanted to repeat what others have already said. Regardless of what you think about Blair and Bush and the reasons why they sent our troops to war, we should honour them in whatever way we feel appropriate.
One of the main differences between us and many other war hungry countries is that we take time and make the effort to honour those who have sacrificed their lives for us. Long may that continue.
I think Ed is taking out his frustrations on the wrong people. The Poppies are for the brave fallen, not for the decision makers who IMO got it wrong in recent times, and therefore we should wear them with pride and insist that our children do the same.

100% agree. The brave soldiers on the front line, giving their lives, are not the ones who decide if we go to war. They sign up (and I know enough soldiers to know this is true) to protect their country. It is these men and women who are honoured and remembered on a day like today. And rightly so.
The point made regarding politicans and the rights and wrongs of conflicts is for another time and place.
