Er, hang on - Adebayor, can't get into the City team, who finished 3rd last year. Joe Cole, can't get anywhere near the Liverpool squad, who finished 6th last year. Scott Parker, played for a team who got relegated, never made a real impact at Chelsea.
Basically, these aren't world beaters. We cannot afford the truly great players so are getting in those who are past their hay-day. If we were on the up then these would be good signings. But we slipped last year and other teams around us are improving their squad.

I think he was being sarcastic... anyway at this point I'm resigned to seeing us throw caution to the wind and just concentrate on signing high quality youth players... nothing would make me more happy than to see Spurs open football academies in Brazil and Argentina in the next year.
Maybe if we were willing to bear some costs to cultivate talent then we'd be rewarded with some loyalty as players came through the ranks - obviously we cant afford to go pound for pound with the heavy weights in Europe (atleast until we get this stadium shat sorted).
