    Bolton V Spurs

    Hello my footballing Brethren/Bredrin,

Can we get a few predictions? and or suggested line ups? what happened wit those?

I have stumbled across this little gem and thought it may be worth sharing:

In my experience this site is superb.

Now those who can't afford to pay Mr Murdoch disgraceful rates can enjoy live football aswell. Mind you he probably needs every penny for lawyers fee's!

We have a shocking record at the Reebok, but I'm feeling optimistic (It must have rubbed off, cheers John Locke).

    • We have become a bit of a 'possession' side at the moment, and recent games have seen us huffing and puffing without making enough chances. In the Blackburn game, we did manage to penetrate and if we had taken half of our chances, it would have been a slaughter, and we wouldn't have been calling it a mediocre showing. Against Bolton, we were a lot shakier, had to absorb a lot more pressure and gave away possession a lot more, but...we converted our chances! I think what we are lacking is a twenty-five-plus-goal-a-season striker, and someone like Luka chipping in with a few more goals!

    • Easier said than done though Sfer isn't it?
Look at the Barca/Chavs debacle. OK, hands up, the Chavs defended well, but even with the talent on hand to Barca, they have problems breaking teams down. Again you could argue that they need a plan B - maybe so (and I'm not comparing Spurs to Barca here, just defensive play to defensive play).

In their defence, the Chavs aren't a defensive team, so you have to give them credit for what they did in a 'one off', but IMHO, they didn't play 'well' - they won, fine, but it's not the stuff I want to watch week in week out.

Spurs could sit back and draw the teams on and then hit - but so far 'arry seems to have gone for a more attacking style. That to me has been the way - and still is. So long may he continue with his philosophy (I may change that if we're ever in the relegation zone!).

      Happy days again.
Thought we deserved the 3 pts and again showed why we are in the top 4.
Not many teams in the PL have as many fast players as us and this is definately where we can beat opposition who open up and try to attack us,which was Boltons undoing.
Didn't enjoy the first10 mins in the 2nd half when they threatened, and we seemed to lose composure, but as i said this cost them dearly.
A couple of decent perfomances again,Lennon, vdv,Ade,but more of a team effort though, imho Rose is not good enough yet.
Quite like the look of Figuiro(wigan left back)sorry if the spellings wrong, but he has pace, stature and could definately be one to watch.(WOULD LIKE SOME FEEDBACK PLEASE).
As for the other results of the evening, thought Newcastle got lucky against the Chavs(going on highlights)and thier next 2 games will bring them down to earth, but fair play to them for hanging on in there.
Here's hopeing we can do more of the same in the final 2 games and the ARSE slip up,giving us that 3rd position which is rightfully ours this season.
PS.so nice not to have the GOOOOOOOONS jumping all over us after each game.
I'LL say it again, fingers crossed, bum cheeks tight squeesly and all the others.

      • disagree sfer.
some of what u have said is true for a few games.

but there have been lots where teams havent parked the bus & we still have moved the ball slowly & not attacked with pace.
as mentioned by someone else, we have become a possession team since the turn of the year. the other thing is bale has been coming in to the packed middle too.
sometimes harry plays modric wide left & bale wide right which is silly. it ends up even narrower!
if bale stayed playing down the left & lennon down the right we would have much more joy. look at some of the goals against bolton. there has been space to do that against other teams but we stayed narrow & tryed to bulldoze through the middle with 27 passes.

norwich played with 2 fowards & attacked us. we created little & for the majority of the game attacked slowly with tappy tap passing. the only goal was when livermore decided to play an early through ball to defoe. the amount of times defoe makes good runs like that but doesnt get played in is a joke.
we seem to ignore the obvious through ball or slide rule pass even when its clearly on. we would rather pass it 10 times on the halfway line first. maybe thats why it probably took a livermore to play the pass. the regulars dont seem to do it.

we have won once away from home this year. are u seriously saying all the home teams we played parked the bus?!!!!!
say what lol! a fair few of them attacked us like u would expect a home team too & we still didnt counter attack or attack quickly with pace. we just seemed to ignore this tactic for some reason. our losses too city & utd twice & arsenal- did they all park the bus?! no they didnt. especially arsenal. they through men foward & left loads of chances for us to counter atack with pace. lennon was made for that game but wasnt picked for some strange reason. he would have explioted the space.

i can think of a few teams who parked the bus as u would expect. but not even half the teams we havent beaten parked the bus.

sfer, i think u are being far too kind to our team!
also, in the 1st half of the year when we we're winning, teams parked the bus & we still overcame them.

another thing- harry is doing the worst tactic & team selection for teams who park the bus. he plays 1 isolated striker with the other (vdv) dropping so deep into the middle of the park which is already packed!

we end up with everyone in the middle, bale wonders in the middle too. vdv is there too. the other team have everyone behind the ball & want u to try to go through the middle, so we oblige! u need to stretch teams that parked the bus. u need to have at least 1 guy in the box, not just ade who isnt a natural goal poacher anyway.

u play 4-4-2 with defoe & ade up top. u have parker to guard against the counter attack. as well as the 4 normal defenders.
surely they should cope against lower prem teams who park the bus.

when i see the team line up at home to teams like stoke who get everyone behind the ball, im already thinking how the hell are we going to create chances.

fair enough against good teams who are more attacking, we drop defoe & play vdv deeper. but at home to teams like stoke u need to be more attacking & use the width to stretch them, rather than playing with 1 isolated striker & having bale come into the middle.

    • I'd rather the gooners got fourth, behind us of course, and chavs won the CL or same scenario with Toon fourth but Chavs missing out on CL. After all thats happened this season, I would hate it if Toon were fourth and chavs won. They and us both deserve CL next season on this years displays!!!!!
      All is still possible!!!!

    • Well what was that again then?
The line between winning and losing is fine one eh?

I thought Ade had a pretty poor first half to say the least, and Rose also looked flaky/nervous. That 10-15 minute spell after the break had the whole team looking more than a bit nervous as well though. Then a couple of quick goals and we look composed and totally in control.

Was that a good performance or just a good result?

    • Also,

Apologies about the lack of punctuation, I was excited and rushed. School-boy error!
