  • I can not believe Harry and some fans think 4th is such an achivement. Arsenal are not the force they were, Liverpool had an idiot in charge, and Chelsea were in turmoil until they appointed the luckiest manager in the history of football.
We know we can not compete with the Mancs, so who else is there.
Harry has made plenty of rank amateur mistakes this season (tactics and formations) but I was stunned when he sat Defoe back down after going 1-1 at Villa. Even if we had lost we would have finished 4th but Harry played it safe.
Tom those saying all dropped points are the same when you are at the point of no return obviously not, you can not accrue them later in the season. I am still in shock but COYS!

    • It is an achievement if you look at it from the point of view of would we have taken 4th at the very beginning of the season - yes I think most of us would.

If you look at it from just before the Villa game - no it is not such an achievement. The problem is exacerbated by the loss of 4th getting CL football and Ar$e ending up ahead of us after what seemed an impossible thing to imagine happening.

Overall, the optimists will say we should be happy and the pessimists will say Bog Off we should have got 3rd. I am a pessimist.

And you are absolutely right about the Villa 3 points being different from the other 3 point games earlier in the season - whether JL will agree with you is a different matter.

    • dont waste so much of your breath like i did with john.

we have all tryed explaining it in different ways & he still now doesnt see it or understand it!

he basically will do anything to defend harry on this 1, even do a complete u-turn on his view on how ambitious u are.

the fact the majority of us, other spurs fans, pundits, commentatos etc agree with us tells u something.

john gets more silly & plays even more dumb to suit his poor arguments. thats without his silly assumptions & over exagerating.

i saw we should settle for 4th ages ago.
he compares that with fergie saying utd should aim to avoid relegation.

      pathetic to say the least.

    • everybody knows that success is BOUGHT these days.....we want a player....along come Man c,Man u ,Chelsea. with their big wages....so where is he going to go?.....not only us but the for other teams in the premier it is not a level playing field,,,,,no not jealousy, just an unfortunate fact.....if you had to bet on who would win the premier league......there are only 3 contenders.....year after year....

      • It's going to be the Scottish Prem all over again - that'll be real exciting, won't it.

Let's see what effect, if any, the fair play rules (ow whatever its called that starts limiting spending to what the team can afford and still be solvent, or is it profitable) - I'm sure there are loop holes that the mega-rich will exploit though).

      • A sad, but true, prediction Derek and you have not even factored in the bit about if any of our players are shining, then the top 3 either want to buy them or say they do just to put them off their game.

All teams like us can do is try for that 4th spot - and I include Ar$e in that as Chelski are a stronger team who would normally be there. It was only the AVB era that put paid to that this year.
