Personally I dont think AVB has dont anything wrong at the moment. With regard to Daws, he has been up front and told him he is 3 or 4 in line, and gave him permission to talk to QPR, which doesnt have to mean he wants him to leave, but giving Daws the choice of staying and fighting for place, knowing the score, or leaving, hopefully it seems he is staying, and not likely to be a disrupted influence because he knows where he stands....Hudds on loan make sense, seeing he has been out for so long, and needs games, plus he had a Jan call back clause...VDV, well we all know he is a class player, but how many of us have said he cant stand the pace of the EPL, and only good for 60 mins?, so Dembele, should be more than useful replacement ( maybe not scoring wise )...we got Grant hall from Brighton, and have Smith and Naughton, so cover for fullbacks, so Rose out on loan no problem, so all in all its good management imo, and if we can get 3 or 4 of our targets then Im quite optomistic for the season and judge AVB after he has time to get his methods embedded into the squad.

    • yes i agree remmah. the only thing i wasnt happy with is selling dawson. letting gallas go makes much more sense.

but as u say, maybe he was just too honest & said dawson u are 3rd choice. whereas most managers would say u are 1 of my main CBs (even if they werent!).

id be happy with selling hudd! but a loan is a good compromise.
that has fallen through thou. apparentley stoke medics are worryed about hudds ankles. im not suprised with him carrying all that weight around!

      modric was leaving anyway.

vdv is a good player & a fans fave. but as u said he was knackered after an hour. just not fit enough for the EPL.
also he would drift out of games for long amounts of time.
he seemed to be stay in a 5m rsquare for the last 30mins.
also he is in his late 20s so sell him not whilst we can get a good 10m+ for him.
we got sig & dembele who can play there. or we can go with 2 upfront with defoe instead.

john, avb started dropping the big egos like drogba, lampard, cole etc.
u should read up on it. theres plenty of things he did to upset the big egos.

    • Rem,
I'm not concerned by who he's got rid of (so far only Bassong has left), but I am concerned at the players he has 'allegedly' said can go. Not because I think they're all good players and deserve to be in the 1st team, but simply that it's a long season and if AVB has been reported correctly, he wants to try in all competitions. You need a squad that is together for that IMHO, not a squad where 40% (Parker, VDV, Daws, T'Hudd, Rose, Jenas, Bentley, Lemon, Two Saints, Gomes) have apparently been told they can go. If those players go - and are replaced to maintain the squad - then no issue. But what is their morale like if they stay?
