    I miss Deadline Day

What's happened in the last 28 hours?! It all looked so promising...

We haven't had a good deadline day in ages, now yesterday rolls around and it's the worst quality football - both teams - in a London derby for years, not to mention a disappointing result (one goal totally made by our own mistakes), and now the gooners are having an exciting deadline day and our biggest news is Capoue's injury is 'only' likely to keep him out for 4 weeks!

I miss the days of the van der Vaart's, the Robbie return (for excitement more than impact), even Louis Saha. I know we were all keen to get more consistency in the team, but this wasn't really what I had in mind...

    • Also, did Arsenal just want to break our transfer record with Ozil??

I would like to remind you all of his quote from about 3 days ago about Bale...

“The prices today are just linked with the financial power and the desire of the buyer. But it is impossible to #$%$ a market where you can say ‘this is the normal price for this player because that is his quality’. That has gone completely because in transfers you go from zero to £10million and afterwards from £30million to £80million but that is not linked with the quality of the players, just the financial power of the buyer. For me, there are very few players who you can justify paying over £50million for.”

Well, now Levy's taken the day off I've got to get my kicks somewhere...

      • Now now NBR don't be greedy, you have seen Spurs spend £100m or so this window (i'd rather have Ozil though!).

As for Arsenal and Ozil and the fee, let's face it, Ozil is one of the very best players in world football, described by Mourinho as 'the best no.10 in the world'. By signing Ozil Arsenal have topped any fee ever paid by ManIOU, the biggest club in England, made Ozil the highest ever fee for a German player and have paid the third highest fee ever by a Prem club (behind the Torres to Chelsea and Tevez to City deals).

        Is Ozil worth it?

Check his assist rate (it's OBSCENE!).

Licking my Fab lips at the thought of Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere and Arteta supplying Giroud and Walcott and Podolski.

And to think, with the new Arsenal revenues giving the club around £70m PER YEAR to spend on players, it really is only just beginning for the better side of north London!
