.......guaranteed to score goals at Championship level, but too much of a gamble with injuries to consider as long term in the Premier. Mowbray knew it and so does Phillips.
Personally, I would have paid him what he wanted to stay at the Albion, he was a major part in our success and deserved the reward. Apart from the goals, he is a big morale booster in the dressing room and surely we could have found him a role in the coaching setup if he'd wanted it.
Anyway, best of luck for the season from a Baggie.
Agree to some extent but surely Phillips is the sort of man that you would like to bring on with about 20 minutes to go and he will still score goals in prem division. A bit like when we had Horsfield, always gave defenders a fright in the last 20 mins, actually wish he was still at Brum.
All the best.

I don't think McLeish has bought him in for any other reason, Prest. Kev said when he joined that he realised he wasnt going to start many games. His role is to come on in the last 30, and do exactly what he is doing...poach the winner.
We have other forwards that will run the oppositiion defence ragged for an hour, tire them out and then Phillips is bought on ...with his eye for goal. what a prospect.
Sure Baggies should have given him a two year contract, but their loss is our gain. I hope he brings the best out of O'Conner too, it is looking good so far !
