    Not crook's after all..............

........................Not that I ever doubted it...

Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan and managing director Karren Brady will not be prosecuted over suspected tax irregularities.

A two-year police investigation has been dropped, their lawyers said.

The two were arrested by City of London Police officers as part of a wider investigation into corruption in football.

"David Sullivan and Karren Brady are pleased to confirm that, following a two-year investigation by City of London Police and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs into Birmingham City Football Club, they have received written confirmation that a decision has been taken that no proceedings will be instituted," law firm BCL Burton Copeland said.

"Whilst always confident of this outcome, the period of the investigation was understandably a stressful time and David and Karren are now happy to put the matter behind them and look forward to the future."

The Birmingham City managing director and co-owner David Sullivan have been told they will not face prosecution after the lengthy police probe into suspected tax irregularities.

They had been arrested and quizzed by City of London Police as part of a wider investigation into alleged corruption in football.

Yesterday a delighted Brady, 40, said: “Police have abandoned their ridiculous accusation that Birmingham City Football Club was guilty of something, though exactly what none of us were ever sure.

“My reputation as a business woman has been on hold for two years and now I feel an overwhelming sense of relief that ordeal by innuendo is over.”

Brady, married to the new Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido, also revealed she had been given the all-clear from doctors.

The mum-of-two said: “The cloud over my health has been lifted. I was told by my specialist I was completely in the clear after brain surgery three years ago.”

Last week Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office made the decision not to prosecute after a review of the police and financial inquiry.

The joint investigation had focused on allegations that payments were made to employees which were not declared to the tax authorities.
