    good season lads.

The end of the season and what a ride it has been!

Thank you to everyone at Birmingham City F.C. for an amazing season, good luck to Joe Hart for the future and hopefully stake a claim on the No.1 jersey for England.

Last August we were all anticipating a season of struggle and a relegation dog fight, we would have been happy finishing with 17th place and another season in the Premiership.
What happened, a top 10 finish, F.A. cup quarter final, some incredible displays both from the team as a whole and from individuals?
After supporting The Blues since the early Sixties I have learnt that we have always been anything but predictable, I forget how many times we have thrown the rule book out the window and when we should have won gone out and lost…? Woking and Altringham spring to mind
And Vice Versa; Arsenal, Tottenham during the 68 cup run. I remember supporters up the Floodlight pylons and sitting on the roof of the old Spoin Kop.
This season has to have been one of the best in all the years for over achievement.
Hopefully it will be a start to see us building and establishing ourselves in the Premiership and not just another one off season.
We have the foundations laid now let’s go to the next level, we also know that we haven’t got a bottomless pot or a mega-rich backer; I have faith now in Alex McLeish with his dealings in the market and his man-management skills.
I do believe that we should keep Chucho and buy a renowned goal scorer in the 15/20 goal bracket.
If we can’t get Joe Hart back then we will need another keeper but I think that Maik Taylor should be given the chance to play again as he has never really let us down and is an international keeper.
We need more depth as we cannot go another season without injuries…. But the players have excelled in every department when ever called upon to play anywhere… I.e. Liam Ridgewell:
I also feel we were lacking something in midfield, certainly not skill or fight and desire.
My one complaint about Alex has to be not playing with 2 up front often enough and the fact he has a habit of taking Seb Larsson off. He must have his reasons.
I was driving home on Sunday and was amazed listening to radio 5 live phone in on the amount of callers/managers and pundits who were criticising refereeing decisions over the season for results and finishing positions that were affected by some atrocious decisions, even on Sunday Blues had a penalty decision and a legitimate goal turned down.
We can complain till the cows come home but nothing will change until football starts using technology, the sooner the better in my opinion.

Anyway to all bluenoses everywhere have a good close season and let’s hope for decent weather and get the beer and B-B-Q’s out for the World Cup…..

See you all next season….. KEEP RIGHT ON

    • Actually, I would not say you had a good season at all ! Fantastic more like, promotion from the Championship was not done particularly well but your team certainly got stuck in and all the opposition knew they were in for a tough game. Now have a rest and try to go one better next term ... !

      • Thanks Lyn..and but for some dodgy penalty decision's, and a striker that has the finishing ability of someone like Kev Phillips....we could have had a few more points on the board...never mind eh, I would have accepted 9th at the season start...in fact. I would have said impossible. the boys did well, hopefully we will build on it
