I am just as unhappy as everyone with the poor performance of MA, but I will say that I am taking a positive approach to this season. I firmly believe will be not be relegated and will finish 15th or higher. I know...I'm not setting my standards too high, but I do believe that the lads are improved from two seasons ago.
To name a few...Smudger has found his natural position as a defensive midfielder. Carroll will hopefully continue to mature and find the net 12-15 times in the Prem. Enrique has improved. Simpson was solid. Routledge could play well in the Prem with some positive support. Lovenkrands may just deliver. If Barton stays out of jail and out of the hospital he just might provide value. Admittedly, Coloccini makes me nervous, but then again Perch may prove defensively adept.
I refuse to be negative until proven wrong. I believe the team is in a better frame of mind without all the Michael Owen types on the pitch and more importantly not in the clubhouse.
I think the lads are playing more for the jersey than they have in the past few years.
