    the team was

I took a mate with me to the match, the first words said when the team came out to warm up were "who are these children? youv'e brought".
well it did not take long to find out.
sadly with only 15 minites gone Adebayor had to go off injured he was replaced by armand traore
this was good as young connolly was having a few problems as the tow quickest of the west brom team were on his side of the pitch even young walcott was switched to get away from them.
I was disapointed with the ref every time enilson ( who is quite slightly built) got the ball three beefy baggies got around him and upended him.
he is deffinatly one for the future i feel he needs to gain physical strenth but skill wise he is right up there now ( he had to be replaced after yet another pull down from behind at around 70 mins)
All in all we were quicker to the ball and played quite well, but i feel some of the more experinced players will need to be used if we were to come up against another prem club
Aliadiere has filled out and did score both goals
one a pen when he was upended in the box and the other from a free kick when they upended walcott near the corner flag.
In general it was a very young team they played very well.
senderos had hartson in his pocket all match hartson never got a kick
they brought on diomansy kamara and although very quick Djourou had not one problem with him.

It was noticable that the home fans started to leave with more than 20 mins to go , so much in control were the young lads

The future looks bright the future is ARSENAL

    • Yep, we need trophies. I laughed at a post this morning that said this team will end up being better than Ajax of the seventies!!!! Slow down. I do think that the style is embedded now in the entire club. Wengers style. All the kids play the same way. Whether or not that means they'll win the league I have no idea, but they will certainly entertain.

    • i agree after a slow start arsenal look good.of course city beat you but hey don't worry i'd love to say we beat the champions

    • How was Song? Did he look promising for the future? AW singled out him and Denilson for special praise. I thought Fran was likely to feature

Wenger: "I've got plenty of boys who have a lot of spirit and they showed that tonight. I thought Denilson and Alexandre Song, in particular, were excellent. I have always wanted to use this competition to give my young players experience. We were playing a good side and it could have affected their confidence to go out at such an early round but they came through very well."

      • Song played well a couple of wayward passes in the first 15-20 mins but they all looked a little tentative at first.

But once they warmed up they were the only team that looked likly to win.

It was unfortunate that adebayor got the injury, but we brought on armand traore and he seemed to give young connolly more help, which he did need as the 2 quickest in the west brom team were on his side of the pitch.

It was a very eye catching and from our point of veiw a good work out for the younger lads.

Today i have spoken to west brom mates who were at the match and they are feeling quite downcast, as they feel the gulf in class was enormous, mostly when you consider that they only had made 4 changes to the team that stuffed the wolves.
And that was an arsenal team of real youth the majority being 19yrs or under, and there team had mostly played in the prem but were second to most balls and run ragged all night chasing shadows.
they reckon that they will win promotion to the prem but unless there board spend loads and buy a new 11 they might win 4/5 games at most

    • Dear Alex,

You are 100% right. The future is ARSENAL.Quite frankly we are the hottest team now in EUROPE and unlike other teams we are playing the most beautiful football I have ever seen on this planet, not only scoring wonderful goals but showing a nice display of collective togetherness as a team and individual talents as well.I am from Rwanda and a true gunners fan and I will die ARSENAL forever.

May the Almighty God bless you and all the Arsenal fans.
Remember:We are the champs now and forever.

    • Cheers, nice post.
