    Summer Transfers

Joe Hart from Manchester City - £8m
Marouane Chamakh from Bordeaux - £12m
Felipe Melo from Juventus - £12m

Fran Merida to Athletico Madrid - Free (Contract ends 30/6/10 & player has already agreed personal terms with Athletico)
    Eduardo to Lyon - £4m

What boggles my mind is that Monsieur Wenger feels the need to go after Melo, an attacking midfielder, who he chased unsuccessfully last summer, but does not see the need to go after a quality, world class central defender or even a defensive midfielder. Say what you will about RVP being out most of this season and losing Fabregas and Gallas when it mattered most, but in my opinion, we were still in the hunt for the title and progress in the Champions League if it weren't for Song's injury. We have no cover for him, there's no one else in the entire squad that can cover his responsibilities. Barcelona have Keita/Toure, Chelsea have Essien/Mikel, Liverpool have Mascherano, Real Madrid have Diarra. To compete among the best, we must not only have this type of player (Song), but adequate cover too. The attacking philosophy and free-flowing football is great, but modern football demands a holding midfielder or sweeper in addition to the backline. How is it that a man with so much experience at the highest level, the 'The Professor', does not see this? Perhaps he should be slowly phased out to a Director of Football or Sporting Director role with Bergkamp, Keown, etc. brought in as assistant coach and allowed to get experience and earn their badges?

Sorry boys, just venting as we were in it for 7 months this time only for things to fall apart with 3 weeks to go!!
