Arsenal Message Board
The Wales international, 22, has IMPRESSED in recent weeks as he THRIVES in his preferred central role at the heartbeat of Arsene Wenger's side, with England's Jack Wilshere coming back from an ankle injury.
It is a welcome run of consistency for Ramsey, who was often deployed as a utility man by Wenger in the last campaign, which saw him split opinion among supporters.
Ramsey's progress following a £5million move from Cardiff in 2008 was halted by a sickening double leg break after a challenge by Stoke's Ryan Shawcross in a Barclays Premier League game at the Britannia Stadium three years ago, which left him ruled out for nine months.
Now, though, the combative midfielder believes he is making up for lost time.
"Last season was frustrating for me. I had a bit of stick, but I was not playing in my main position and had obviously been through a lot," Ramsey said in the May edition of the official Arsenal magazine.
"I think people are starting to realise now that I am coming back, looking sharp again - and there is no better feeling than winning people over, proving you are capable of doing a good job and you are a good player.
"I am confident in myself and think I can push on to the next level now."
Hmmmm......yet another player in a long line that is proving the incessant boo boys WRONG I see.
Naturally, the club should have sold him, years ago!!!
One is MOST AMUSED.
I think he has definitely helped us on the defensive side of the ball since we started to effectively play with 5 midfielders and he has a great work rate. An other good work horse which I think all teams need in midfield. Having Ramsey in the squad and playing with 5 midfield players is also the reason we have trouble going forward with Cazorla being played out on the left and Ramsey being poor going forward.
I hope for Ramsey that one day he will become a deserving starter somewhere. I read somewhere that maybe Cardiff would like to make him a key signing and that might be great for him.
I think at Arsenal if we want to dream about trophies we need find a more complete player helping defending and attacking a sort of merging of Arteta and Ramsey into a box-to-box player like Vierra or Yaya. This would allow us to go back to 4-3-3 and thus be more effective going forward.
