Better to pay over the odss than to be left empty handed no?
ARSENAL target Gonzalo Higuain has asked for 48 hours to think over a £30million move to Napoli.
The Real Madrid striker — who has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal — wants to see whether the Gunners will raise their offer before committing himself to a move to Italy.
But Arsenal are unwilling to be drawn into a bidding war after believing they had agreed a £23m deal with Madrid.
Especially as they know the Spanish giants are planning to use the Higuain money to outbid them for Liverpool hitman Luis Suarez.
Reports in Italy claim that Napoli boss Rafa Benitez’s £30m offer for Higuain has been accepted by Madrid.
And there are growing concerns within Arsenal that they will be left empty-handed despite their promises of at least one stellar signing.
But they are not prepared to pay over the odds for Argentina star Higuain, 25, who has made it clear that he will be leaving the Bernabeu despite the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as boss
It's another game of chess. Wenger has lost out on these more often than not.
1.Sacrifice a deal with Suarez to get Higuain for £30m.....Higuain not proven in the EPL
2.Pay the Dippers £50m for Suarez to get a signature before Napoli give Real the money to buy him for themselves.
3.Wait to see if Higuain agrees terms with Napoli, only to see Suarez then go to Real for £40m....We end up with sweet fanny adams.
We had agreed personal terms of £130k p/w for Higuain. I don't know if Napoli have that kind of money.

It is understanding Napoli are rolling it and have been quote as having more the 100 million, but who knows for sure. Maybe Wenger doesn't feel he has £70+. Why else wait for the big clubs like PSG who can afford to "over-pay" to fund your competition.
If Real increased the price for Hiagauin we should still have played ball IMO. We need to prove we can still be a destination for big players and the difference between £30 and £25 vs the difference of having a top striker and being empty handed and Giroud dependent is massive and worth the extra £5 million IMO. We can act like we are the club we might have been 10 years ago full of big name players. To get back to that level we need to pay the price and act decisively.
Higuain has been offered £100,000-a-week contract at Arsenal while Napoli are only willing to offer him a contract closer to £80,000-a-week according to reports.
I think it's fair to conclude that his agents (father or brother or both) won't accept Napoli's offer.

"Negotiations with Napoli are continuing but the Serie A side ... are reportedly willing to pay Higuain €6m (£5m) in wages per season, the same as Arsenal offered the Argentine when terms were agreed on a £22m move last month."
