Why don't they (Man U) just get Rooney to say that he's staying rather than a succession of personnel at OT falling over themselves to do what Rooney, a paid employee of the club, should be dutifully doing by himself?
Surely hearing such statement from a player would put an end to all these daily rumours of Rooney 'keen' to play under Mourinho.
All we keep hearing is Scholes, Rio, etc, etc, begging the player to stay, the Man U hierarchy second guessing what the player would do instead of a direct statement of intent from the player himself. After all, Wayne Rooney is an employee of the club, it shouldn't be that difficult getting him to utter two words - "I'm staying" - if the player really wants to stay should it?
"the Man U hierarchy second guessing what the player would do" - really? What 'second guessing'? The club has clearly stated he's not for sale.
BTW, Rio doesn't mention Rooney in his so called 'advice'. And Scholes said "“It's up to Wayne - but he's a top, top player and every player and fan wants him to stay.”; hardly 'begging' is it?
Are the arsenal players going to state they are staying?

On speculations linking him with a move to Manchester United,
Cesc Fabregas said that : "People talk a lot but the truth is that no-one has spoken with me. I want to triumph in Barcelona, that club is my home and I always dreamed of playing there, so I will try and succeed there as long as I can."
