Now that the deal has been accepted by the board, here is the scenerio:
Shinawatra will be convicted in Thailand for corruption charges. Under Thai law, apart from going to prison, he has to pay 3x the amount found to be gained from corruption. The amount of corruption they are talking about is US$1.2b, so there is a potential penalty of US$3.6bn!
I think they will reach some sort of agreement whereby the ex-prime minister will not go to jail, but his fortune will be confiscated, so ManC will be in the hand of the Thai government!
