McLaren : should they appeal or stay where they're at?

    • I think I spoke too soon. If the FIA's evidence of text messages and emails is correct, then the penalty should stand and Fernando Alonso should be stripped of his points too because it looks like he was in on the exchange of information.

      • Too easy to jump into rush conclusions like this :

"This is a witch hunt instigated by Ferrari. They know they can't win on merit so they're resorting to bogus charges against McLaren. "Officially" this is coming from the FIA, but FIA = Max = Ferrari. I'm thoroughly disgusted with F1 now and I'm not watching it anymore. Appeal, McLaren!"

Did you really think FIA will ban and punish any team that threaten Ferrari on the constructors championship without any valid reason whatsosever?

As for FIA = Max = Ferrari, after what we learned today... its more like FIA = Max = McLaren

    • This is not going to happen for a number of reasons.
      1. Nobody except the brits and McLaren belive McLaren are squeaky clean and that Hamilton can do no wrong.
      2. All teams move up a place in the constructors championship as a result of this
3.McLaren cheated and were punished!!! Geto over all the Ferrari cheating rubbish, the set ups etc, this is not the Kennedy assasination, it is a team cheating and being punished and it's supporters getting upset about it, it has happened before and will happen again!

    • I'd like to see Mclaren hold up ferrari and let BMW sauber through.
Or just do what Alonso said he wanted to do to schumacher in Monaco last year. Get out of the car and lie down in front of them, and when the whole field have gone past, get up and jump in the car and have a lazy sunday drive.

    • I`m really thrilled to know what really happen in Paris yesterday and in what facts(new!) did FIA base their decision to punish McLaren.

But 1 thing i`m sure of is: If McLaren really didnt benefit in any way from those Ferrari document then ofcourse the punishment is either totally unjustified or too harsh and McLaren will appeal.

If McLaren dont appeal: Well, that tell us that McLaren have really screwed up and should consider themselves lucky that they can still fight for the drivers title.

McLaren still claims that they are not guilty of any wrongdoing... if thats the truth, i`m sure they cant and they wont ignore the 100million$ fine(plus the loses of around 70million in prize money this season) and just get on with it.

    • Appeal! This is a witch hunt instigated by Ferrari. They know they can't win on merit so they're resorting to bogus charges against McLaren. "Officially" this is coming from the FIA, but FIA = Max = Ferrari. I'm thoroughly disgusted with F1 now and I'm not watching it anymore. Appeal, McLaren!

    • Appeal, That fine is extortionate.

What if Spyker was found guilty of the same thing. (IF GUILT WAS REALLY PROVED). Would the fia fine them the same.

They'd have to if the sport and fia are to save face.
They set the presidence, they live with the consequencies

Of course all what you are saying means very little because your little proud british hearts tend to defend whatever you have in your nation even if that means not seeing reality...
Don't think that if Ferrai was fined $100M for the same thing (what MCLaren did) you would be here slagging Italians and Ferrari? I think so. You can't be objective at all.
The truth is that $100 fine is a little escape and the drivers are still racing for a title. They deserved to be wiped off the F1 completely. The outcome of the investigation is once again a joke, MCL is guilty of stealing but they are still able to use the same cars that benefited from this theft!! How nice!! All this is fine for you, isn't it?
        Nice people you are...
Before making any silly comments I'm not Italian but not British either.

      • "What if Spyker was found guilty of the same thing."

        Good question.
But i`m just wondering what if Ferrari and McLaren roles were reversed in this case. What if Ferrari was found in possesion of secret data from its main rival McLaren??
I`m sure this board woud have been spammed with messages "Ban Ferrari from F1".

      • Sure, whatever they'll get all along nego (we're now down USD 50mil instead of USD100Mil to start) they should appeal !

By the way: where did Ferrari end up with their illegal moveable floor they used in Melbourne???

Isn't that another perfect call for appeal?
