  • He's certainly the right man for the job.
Villa fans should be very happy with this season, considering the loss of the wealth of contributions Martin Laursen and Gareth Barry brought to the table. To be without them both this season, I was assuming Villa would take a step back.

Wonderfully, MON knew who he needed to fill the void. James Milner, Richard Dunne, Stephen Warnock, James Collins, Emile Heskey, Fabian Delph, Carlos Cuellar, Curtis Davies, Stewart Downing... the man has brought nothing but Quality to Villa Park. Oh, and the best addition, Brad Friedel.

The way I see it, MON was unlucky to miss the Champion's League last season. Villa were looking good for Fouth Place before Martin Laursen went down. Then, it all fell apart.
Again this season, I think MON may be unlucky to miss the Champions League. This time due to the plaguing injuries to his most prolific striker, John Carew. No doubt Villa would be much closer to the 4th spot with a healthy John Carew.

The offense was outstanding during most of last season and the defense has been stellar this yr.
MON will put it together, but unfortunately the window for getting that fourth spot is closing going forward with Man City, Tottenham, and Liverpool building dynamos. The ever tough Everton will be back in form...
That makes eight very high quality BPL teams...

UEFA really needs to look at bringing more than 4 English teams to their Champion's League.
