    What we need next season

Defense: One Centre back as a substitute if Hyppia retire, Agger and Carra should be the starting CB. Finnan and Aurelio and Riise should be fine as RB and LB. Arbeloa is a fine substitue for both side.

Midfield: Pennant is Ok at RM, Gerrard can play right too, Alonso, Mascherano, and Sissoko will control the paint, only area we need improve is LM. Gonzalez is inconsistent but has promise, Kewell is injury prone.

Forward: I know they didn't score much goal, but I really love Crouch, Kuyt and Bellamy. Crouch must be keeped as when we need a air attack, we need this tall guy. Since Voronin is coming, Fowler is gone(unfortunately). Six guys I think have a chance coming to Liverpool:
David Villa--35%, 25 million Euros. Valencia may not sell
    Javier Saviola--24%, Advantage: Free transfer.
David Trezeguet--30%, Juventus want Sissoko plus money
Samuel Etoo--5%, Barca won't sell unless they got Henry
    Carlos Tevez--5% won't be expensive.
Raul--1%, He may leave Real after the season as he love to come to England, possible Liverpool because of the spanish connection.

    • 25m euros for Villa would be a steal. I reckon it would be twice that amount.

    • What you need is some consistency.

    • Your wrong about Stevie G playing on the right, he is okay in that position but he is by far more effective in the central midfield role.
Your striker choice and percentages are quite interesting.
Chances of getting Villa, 0% simple as Valencia wants 71.5 million.
Saviola, 80% because he has quality and he will be free(Rafa will like the idea of getting a quality striker without paying the odds for him).
Eto,50-50 no matter what Paisley and Shanks says he would do well in the Prem and would be a good buy. All depends on would Rafa fork out 20 million on a player.
Tevez,90% this is a great possibilty as Rafa wants an attacking midfielder and Tevez plays better in that role than as a striker and is a brillant link up man and a work horse to boot(Rafa's favorite type of player), plus Liverpool have already done dealings with the company/West Ham that own him.
Raul, have to agrre with your observation 0% and why told old, not the player he was and would'nt give anything new to the team(would be a waste of a wage).
Trezeguet, I would give this one 60% as Rafa is a big fan, but even though he is a good player can't see him banging the goals in.
At the end of the day and now has been officlaised on the "Liverpool TV web site", and this is what I have said all the time. Rafa is a very shrewed manager when it comes to the transfer market and no matter how big is his war chest he will not pay over the odds for a player no matter what.
He will buy what he thinks is right for the team and club and we should trust him in that as if he fails in the next to years we will be seeing a new manager(Paul Jewell). :) in Rafa we Trust!

Saviola I don't think has ever really reached the level that everyone felt he was capable of when he 1st burst on to the scene so I'd be a little less excited about that transfer.
We also have to remember that we have crouch who has 16 goals in 24 starts this season, kuyt who I really don't believe rafa is going to cash in on after just 1 season, bellamy who rafa reportedly rejected a bid for from villa and vorotin who we have on a bosman so if you include tevez that gives us 5 strikers and with craig lindfield making good progress in the youth and reserve teams I feel that unless your spending 20million on a 25-30 goal a season striker it seems silly to buy just for the sake of it.
I think this summer we should be looking at wide men, pennant was the best we could afford at the time well now we can afford better we should be looking at the top end of the market. Gonzalez hasn't looked anywhere near the player we thought we were getting, but he is young in a foreign country so we shouldn't completely dismiss him. Joaquin and De silva these are the type of players we should be looking at people will argue over the value of these players but I don't believe rafa will get 40million and no more. If we go on and bring the european cup home that generates 35million then there is money from league placings and tv revenue and whatever he sells don't be surprised if garcia and alonso(thanks to relatives in spain i've found out that not a day goes by that he is not linked with barcelona or real with a price tag of 25million being fairly consistent) end up back in spain.
So although he may only recieve 40million from the new owners there could be another 60 added to that total. I still feel that rafa will not turn us into chelski mkII though and will only pay what he feels a player is worth. YNWA

    • henry would be a very big risk as he's been injured more than he's been fit for the past couple of seasons , he would cost a fortune in wages and transfer fee , dont get me wrong id love 2 c him in a liverpool shirt but i think even if were willing 2 take that risk we'd still b a bit far off , i mean think about it , its like asking us 2 sell steven gerrard 2 arsenal , it would brake the fan's hearts , plus he's their inspirational skipper .

    • Thanks Bobbyanddawn4ever, it just makes sense tome this way we are still a very attacking side but also have major strength in defence as well.
Left wing is okay(but if we got Henry we could use him coming from the left).
But if I had to buy a left sided winger it would be Schweinstiger from Bayren munich(class, great crosser of the ball and a hell of a shot to boot as well).

    • I agree with matthew, we need an out and out striker. 25-30 goals a season.

      • if we have the reported £40 million

then at least £25-£30 should be made ready for a forward with experience and class and players like that cost big

the remanider should be spent on an attack midfielder with flair perhaps frank ribbery who is unhappy in france

and perhaps strenghten the left wing

another part of me would like to see some of the current young reserve lads given a better chance we have some real talent waiting but that would be a gamble

    • I agree 100% percent with what you say refalution1970! I like the way you have the team set up too!

    • I disagree Tevez is going to be very expensive! He is only 22yrs old and he is one of the best players in the world, he wasnt playing much with West Ham and now that he is getting the minutes he has been incredible! I saw him play with Boca Jrs in Argentina and Maradona called him one of the best players he has seen in his life, trust me you have not seen the best of Tevez yet, he is just starting to adapt to the Premiership style of football and i rather have him than Eto any time!
