    Finnan finished

I really think Finnan has had his time at Liverpool now -- he has been awful this season especially the last two games -- he got out muscled by Arteta on Saturday continually and was absolute rubbish yesterday....
And when he and Pennant play on the right there is no goal threat directly from either of them....
We have a right winger who has scored one goal for us and that is just not good enough....
Never thought I'd say this but we need Kewell on the left and Babel on the right...

    • I think you need to stand by him a bit more. At the beginning of the season I was having an argument with a Liverpool fan about who was best out of Finnan and Neville and he said Finnan was the best right back in the league. Apparent class of that standard doesnt abandon you that quickly.

Take away the champions league and you are 3rd in the league 3 points from top, is it that bad? We (Man Utd) started badly but kept winning games which is the important thing and you appear to be doing the same now. Come May, its not about who played shit for a short period, its about how many points you have on the board that count, you should just be getting behind the team.

    • Fine JK maybe Paco was'nt the brain maybe it is Rafa, but he was definatley the man manager of the two as you can tell since his departure the team have no confidence in themselves or their team mates and it shows on the pitch.

    • This seems like a good supporters thread with valid arguments. Makes a change on this board.

I think you are right about Paco leaving. We do not look the same since - not that Paco was the reason.

Everyone seems to be cruising, passes going astray - lots last night.

Was pretty disappointed with Veronin too......was sure Yossi was gonna belt that one in b4 Veronin took it off him.

There really seems to be a problem with Liverpool playing a 'weaker' team. I mean, Besiktas were poor in my opinion. I thought Everton weren't that good either. We should have been roasting them when they went a player down. We do not seem to play to full capacity.

Yet the big games, Chel, ManU, Ars etc we look like a different bunch of players.

      What gives ?

    • hey -- what do you mean jk is off the pace!! :op

yep -- true -- but I'm not sure Paco was the brains -- -- most teams struggle when a good number 2 leaves -- look at man utd when first Kidd left then Quieroz.... I personally don't want Rafa to leave as I think he is building something here and just needs a bit more time... the EPL is stronger then it's ever been and when we get all our players back we could have a good team... e.g. Aurelio was starting to make the left back slot his own until that injury against PSV....
Paco was more of a fitness coach -- but I think he was closer to the players...

Carragher has needed a pacy defender behind him for the past 2-3 years... I can't really fault Reina this year -- he's saved our bacon a number of times...
Agreed on Gerrard's form since the Chelsea game he hasn't been right... and Sissoko has been awful because he can't pass a ball 2 yards... our best central midfield performance this year was when Mascherano played alongside Xabi (admittedly it was against Derby... but last night we were playing a poor team too)
On the bright side, I think Babel and Lucas have looked good so far...

    • I mentioned at the beginning of the season that he seemed to have lost his legs. I'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed that his age is catching up to him (33 i think at the last count).

But, i'm not sure Kewell is the answer (sorry abu) he's been about as consistent as the other wingers we have out there, but injured more. We need to raid either the reserve/youth team or get spending in the transfer window!
