Vlad, Terry has proven his commitment in the past by playing for both club and country injured. But, it does raise the eyebrow when he's declared not match fit during the week, but suddenly is fit enough to turn out for club just 3 days latter. I'm not sure if its Terry puting club before country, Grant, or if Mclaren just did not push the issue. But considering the uproar between McLaren and Rafa not so long ago when he wanted Gerrard to play with a broken toe, it does raise some questions.
Same thing goes for Rio. Not fit enough for England on a Wednesday, but good enough to play against Bolton on Saturday. At least Chelsea got something out of it, where as Rio could not stop Sulk get one past the Mancs.
Why is it a surprise if Terry is considered not fit to play in one game but fit to play the next? Fitness is not something you pick and choose to be, depending on the match (unless you're Steve Gerrard, of course, and you'd rather play a league match than an England friendly).

Robert, your last sentence raises the exact point that is the question. Rafa felt Gerrard was not fit, but McLaren felt he had to play dispite it only being a friendly. If you remember correctly he did play, with a broken toe (to Terry's credit he also played injured in the same game).
But, Terry, and Rio were declared not fit on Wednesday, but then were able to start for their clubs 3 days latter. Wednesday was no friendly, no warm up game. It was the last game of qualifying. As McLaren obviously was going for a tie, you'd think he'd want his first chocie Center backs.
If an injured Gerrard is required for a friendly, why not a 3 days away from fully fit Terry and Rio?
