How to put things right against Stoke?

    I'd actually go for

    Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Insua
    Babel, Gerrard, Benayoun,
    Kuyt Torres

We don't need two holding midfielders at home vs Stoke, we do need penetration, at a real attacking threat. I thought Kuyt was great up top for the dutch working the channels, and as Rafa like Torres to work withing the width of the penalty box, I'd play both up top, and use Babel and Yossi to give us the width. I agree Babel was useless on the left vs Spurs and usually is, but I maintain he is an inside right. That is where he impressed for the dutch teams he played for right up to senior level. We certainly shouldn't be playing an out of favour left back on the left wing! Riera would be the answer but I'm assuming he's not available?

    • I don`t think that`s a bad starting lineup and as you rightly say more than a match for most teams in the premiership. The real problem is Liverpool`s bench. The fact is that at the moment there isn`t enough depth in the squad especially when compared with Manchester United and Chelsea. United played at the weekend without both of their regular centre backs and their number one keeper and they were the only one of the big four not to concede a goal. Liverpool don`t have that sort of depth and its one of the main resons why they fell short last season. Their first eleven is a match for anyone, their squad isn`t.
