Team to face the Gunners on Sunday

The world cup final contingent have barely seen a football and I just cant imagine Torres being risked from the start. Reina as a keeper is likely to recondition quicker then the outfield players and even though Poulsen has confirmed his fitness, is he really ready? What about Mascherano? Should he play, I think he would still give it his all.

    Johnson Carragher Agger Aurelio
    Gerrard Lucas Cole
    Maxi Ngog Jovanovic

Subs: Cavalieri, Skrtel, Insua, Aquilani, Poulsen, Torres, Amoo

    • Ngog must not play, he is not good enough & never has been good enough to even be in any LFC squad nevermind in our current starting XI. Now that Rafa has gone we no longer have to accept rubbish in our squad. Hopefully Woy gets rid of the remaining donkeys with Ngog & Insua top of that list.
We badly need a new (quality) striker but unfortunately it hasn't happened yet so on Sunday I'd start with Kuyt up front alongside Babel, Jovanovic or Pacheco and I'd have Ngog & Insua as far away from Merseyside as possible.

    • ...will be good enough to win....positive thoughts people....positive thoughts.......0).......

      • Whenever we play Arsenal it has always been a very open game. Arsenal's weakness is their goalkeeper, we must test him constantly until he drops the ball. I am not gainst playing DM. If Mascherano stays, then I think our debate here is finished, we play Masch with Gerrard in the middle and Cole slightly ahead of them. But if Masch s not around and Lucas is not fit, then I think plying Poulsen in the team is a big risk, he hardly has any time to gel with the team! If we have to take a risk anyway, I will pick a more attacking minded formation and get 2 goals and see what Arsenal can do about it:)))

    • Please don't start with Ngog.

Cavalieri Kelly Skrtel Lucas Aquilani Pacheco Babel

Poulsen has had a full pre-season traning with Juventus and says he's ready for the challenge ahead.

      • ADIDASMALMOS...YES with u on u plea NOT to start with NGOG. tHIS LIGHTWEIGHT NO-HOPER will ensure us a loss v Arsenal if ROY STARTSHIM...dont want to start to lose confidence in Roy so early in the saon so hoing he doesnt start ths clown.
WOULD LIKE TOSEE babel up front rather than Maxi but other than that agree with u selection. Good to see u have Pacheco there on the bench...lets hope Roy does too !

      • I agree with 95% of your selection adi, except I will swap Poulsen with Aqualani. I want to see a more attacking formation to pin Arsenal back. I have got a feeling Arsenal will score a goal, so we must know where our 2 goals will come from (yes, I am predicting a 2-1 win for us). I think Gerrard and Kuyt will score (Gerrard's goal will come from a rebound from Cole's shot; whereas Kuyt will get a header in from corner, delivered by Gerrard)

If we can get a win in this match, the whole team will receive a confidence boost and we can actually expect a good season, 0-0 is not good enough for me!
