Just to get away from all this court, legal, purchase and ownership never ending nonsense.. figured this would be a breath of fresh air, especially in lieu of this week's derby.
Everyone's got their selections in their head or on paper of what Roy should do, most likely he'll do the opposite, but here from a friend who's Portuguese and watching live:
"Meireles playing awesome in the middle of the field thus far."
"He is playing holding midfielder in 4-3-3 with moutinho and martins in front of him"
If he can play the holding role so well and manage to keep the midfield tight and organized in an all out attacking 4-3-3 like Portugal play, shouldn't he be able to do the same with Gerrard next to him in a 4-4-1-1, or a 4-2-3-1 ?
Concerning, though I haven't heard or read anything is that Kuyt was withdrawn from Netherlands match after 25 minutes. Hopefully just precaution not an injury.
Why not just drop G altogether ?
I mean if you want to split up a partnership that has proven itself to be worth 1+ goals per game in favor of experimenting with unproven players why not just drop him if you are that determined to lose ?

Where in my post does it at any point state or even suggest dropping Steven Gerrard or trying to lose a match? Before you read any further and prepare your response PLEASE answer the question.. where did I say that?
Gerrard is the first name on my 11 man sheet 100/100 times, even on a broken leg. I'm very plain and simply commenting on how nicely Meireles was playing at the time, and shortly after that he scored on a 30 yard shot, and was man of the match. If he's good enough to do that for the 3rd ranked team in the world which features Ronaldo and Nani, he's had a nice day and certainly deserving of his place in the Liverpool 11.
I am suggesting that Meireles, be partnered alongside Gerrard in the CM position so we have two creative, skillful, athletic players who are excellent passers of the ball and hard workers and Meireles defensive abilities allow Gerrard to make his storming runs forward towards the box to take shots from distance and provide crosses etc. Furthermore, my suggestion of this pairing allows Joe Cole to play in a more favored and comfortable central position behind the striker.
You're talking about me splitting up the partnership of Torres/Gerrard, but do you know if Torres is even close to fit or going to be in the squad vs Everton? You must have inside sources with the physios. He's again suffering from an injury that's been lingering for 2 years now, and as magnificent as it was, we haven't seen that 1-2 punch in full effect since 2008. So if Torres isn't healthy, we're looking at Ngog leading the line and Cole should work just fine behind him with Gerrard and Meireles delivering the passes and deep support. That is all, nothing more, no conspiracy theories, no dropping Gerrard..
Yea you listin to yer mum ajay Jason .
The dumb cunt now has to pretend he didnt see me say that about him !!!
You stick with me Jason like ya have been doing & you will soon be up to scratch , Football is still a mans game & you dont need no wet nursing , even though you are a soft Yank .
See this guy ajay ?
Imagine he wasn't a fan at all but a rat in here to sow seeds of discontent .
Now look at what he said about Torres & the ill sentiment toward our best striker hes promoting .
Only the opposition could gain from behavior like that .
Stupidity or treachery ?
It all amounts to the same thing .
Agree with the Gerrard - Meireles partnership in the centre. Gerrard is after all a box to box midfielder and not a number 10. The central areas of our team have always looked good, but the wide ones have been a problem for too long. Who can we place there with and sort of quality? Pacheco could do a job on the left perhaps even though he should be an alternative option to Cole, and Kuyt can fill that position as well but should really be used as backup for Torres. Wingers are what is needed, Kranjcar for the left perhaps and someone pacy for the right. SWP could be accessible but is too old. Payet has been unbelievable in France but his price is much the same. If the takeover goes through Roy must invest first 20-30 million in good wide players, who naturally occupy that positions.
No worries Ajay, I was actually far more concerned to turn on the news before work this morning and see a bad result in court!
As for this, concerned now about the health of Kuyt, his injury did not look good, and assuming Fernando is not fit we are left terribly thin at striker.
I really hope Torres is 100% to go, he's got a great scoring record against the blue side in his career. I hope the physios can get to the bottom of whatever it is that keeps causing this injury because it's so bothersome to him and the team. We all know that when he's anywhere close to fit and on form he's a 25+ goal striker, and with Gerrard/Meireles/Cole now, 30 is still within reach... If it's Ngog, I think we are still ok, he's made nice steps forward and will just need that little bit more from everyone around him, and hopefully we can put some players in good wide areas to provide some service!
