    Team to face Napoli?

Theres not much risk of rotating having gone 6 matches without a win but heres what I and not Roy would be sending out on Thurs.

Subs: Jones, Ngog, Lucas, Maxi, Agger, Koncheskey, Pacheco

    • Reina,
      Kelly, Carragher, Skrtel, Konchesky,
      Poulsen, Spearing
      Jovanovic, Shelvey, Babel,

Official line up, Shelvey as the attacking midfielder! I like the look of the widemen coming inside!

    • ---------------------Reina------------------------------
      ------Dalla Valle------Torres--------------------

Cant do worse than the "senior" squad have done.

    • Well, you guys can just leave out Torres and Stevie from your line-ups because Roy is leaving the two behind to "rest".

    • Why do you think Johnson's never gonna play there? Do you think he shouldn't or because of Roy?

    • According to internet Gerrard and Torres will not be playing

I can understand Grrard getting a rest but Torres needs all the games he can get to rediscover his scoring boots
      i would pick this side
      Kelly Carragher Kyriakos Aurelio
      Pacheco Selvey Spearing Cole
      Eccleston Jovanovic

N'gog and Babel have had their time so let's give the kids a try

    • Tonights Squad: Reina, Jones, Hansen, Konchesky, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Wilson, Carragher, Kelly, Spearing, Poulsen, Shelvey, Maxi, Babel, Jovanovic, Pacheco, Eccleston, Cole, Ngog

      Starting Xi must be:

Personally, I would rather see Babel partner Ngog in attack but it certainly looks like Pacheco is likely to play centrally from that squad. I would also like to see Aurelio start alongside Poulsen in the centre based on the squad we have taken.

    • I wish he would just play right wing so he could be relieved of all of his defensive duties and just focus on going forward and supporting the attack, but there's got to be some reason why Rafa and Roy, didn't or won't do it. Beyond me..

He played rwb for Pompey, but they were in a very bizarre 3-5-2 formation most of that season, so he still did have rb duties. I remember the game late in the season where Aurelio scored a fk in the box and Torres had a last minute header to win 4-3..

Anyways for me, our wing play both left and right are in shambles and one of the biggest reasons for our horrendous form. A winger or two or 3 have to take preference over a striker in the January window or Torres will finish with 6 goals..

    • I think he should, because for me he's almost absolutely worthless as a defender, but he won't because Rafa never played him there, Capello never plays him there, Roy won't play him there, and he might also take it as a slight towards him if he were asked to, especially by bringing in Kelly to start behind him.. who knows what effect that would have on him, possible transfer request or Mascherano situation? I know no player should have or even be given consideration for that type of behavior, but you never know and with what's going on already under Roy the last thing we need is another problem.

Again, I think he should, but he never will. Personally, I wouldn't be totally opposed to selling him in January, bringing in an experienced player to start or back up Kelly and using the funds for a winger. We paid around 21 million? Could get 2-3 players for that.. what's he really accomplished other than a nice hairdo and 30% of the time on the physios table?

Maybe, and this is just being creative, we should start Martin Kelly at right wing instead?? He's a better defender, and he gets forward quite nicely when he plays for LFC and for England U-21.. I think Kelly is our best, most underused player in the squad.

    • Kelly at right wing is probably not such a good idea. I think Johnson would love to play right wing, he played it at Pompey for Paul Hart before he left. I think he needs the freedom to charge forward, like he did at the start of last season, he was one of our best players.

    • Early in that season they used wing backs I think, and they also used them under Redknapp, but later on they used a 4-2-3-1 formation, I can recall. Kaboul used to play right back for them then, and their attacking midfield was Johnson right, Nugent left wing and Kranjcar centrally behind Crouch. It was a solid team.
