Funny that you mention zonal marking. I read on Wikipedia about how Hodgson brought zonal marking to Scandinavia & now he's doing man 2 man. The Man City game showed that if we had a zonal marking system in place then Tevez's goal would have been offside.
I saw enough in the Blackburn game to think that if Hodgson had started the season playing a more high tempo pressing game then we wouldn't be in the mess we are now. As it stands, we might have started to get our attack into gear (although difficult to say after one game) but the defence (Rafa's strong point - how many times did Reina win Golden Gloves?) still needs sorting out.
