    FSG need to prove themselves

What do I want Peter? I want my cake and eat it!

I want a club with the best website, best commercial department, best youth set-up, best reserves and best first team etc. Simple eh?

My point is that the owners have been going on about how money is no object when it comes to success. They can't expect to throw 20 million in the kitty in the summer and expect us to get CL next season if the other big clubs are going on massive spending sprees as well. It is a historical fact that you have to spend massively on the squad to get success. We have to do that. I wouldn't expect us to compete for the title for 3 years at least even with major squad investment every year.

The fact that they have only spent 30 odd million net shows they have not yet proven those words. To be fair, I was very impressed with the fact that they allowed us to make signings before shipping out the cr@p, and I am confident they will put their money where their mouth is, but nonetheless, they need to really show it in the summer or we will never have the success in the league we all crave.

    • FSG don't HAVE to do anything. We we're a day from administration last season, and they saved us that fate...yes they did it because they got us at a steal in the end, and they knew they could make money out of us, but don't for a minute think that FSG have to do anything for the fans, they own the club and can do what they like.

To be quite honest if I was FSG, I'd look at the situation and think 'what have we done'. I've appointed the fans favourite as manager and they still aren't happy, we've spent £40m net on players, and sanctioned huge money for players the manager and director of football wanted, based on their reccomendations, yet we are getting flack for the flawed judgement of the afore mentioned fans favourite, we need the CL to fund the borrowing for the new stadium, but have fallen a million miles short, and now what do we do.

In terms of Kenny they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Their worst decision, the monumental error, was appointing Kenny as manager. They knew not to, but couldn't resist the will of the fans, and the feelgood factor it brought for a time. Their reservations were correct though, and they are stuck with a manager they can't dispense with, and a team that needs investment, but they can't trust the incumbents to spend the moeny wisely.

It's difficult all round to be fair to them.

      • I disagree side, if you say you are going to do everything to win the league, and then only spend 30 odd million to get it, as far as I'm concerned that's a broken promise.

Do what you say you're gonna do, that's all I ask. I will know what the owners intentions are by August, we all will!

      • I presume they did they're homework on LFC before they bought us and our history?

Thing is it depends what kinda owners they're gonna be?

Be ones that spend generously on very good players.. or spend as little as they can get away with..

Yes they cleared the debt. However clearing the debt was necessary in order to buy the club I suspect.

I can see both sides of this.

Do they trust the current manager with huge sums on players? Are they planning to replace him anyway?

If the latter is true then they'll give him little in terms of money.
However if they're sticking with KD then how long for?

They're the only ones who know that.
We all know we need huge investment still I suspect FSG do too. lets not forget FSG aren't familiar with football. They went with KD on the assumption of keeping the fans happy I suspect.

Now they've seen KD isn't that good and the fans were potentially wrong. I would imagine they'll be looking for a replacement?

    • Yes, we all want that, every fan wants that from their club. Its a bit embarrasing to be calling out the owners to prove themselves when that is all they have done so far at every point of asking. Its pathetic. You say all they have done is invest £30m but they also invested £300m in buying the club in the first place, which actually was paying off our own debt! They never said, money is no object, quite the contrary. They have made it clear that if we need a certain player and we can identify him then we will get him. That is all.

We will buy again this summer, I think we will get the players we need to move forward too. Its fans with unrealistic expectations that will end up ruining it for those of us who were in pieces when we were the worlds laughing stock 18 months ago.

      • Peter, either you are illiterate or just plain stupid. I presume your not dictating you messages to a PA then you know what my opinion is.

Did I say money no object? Just because you buy a club doesn't mean sh*t to me, because that doesn't prove your committed to making it a success. Obviously if that was the case then the previous owners would have done that wouldn't they? Or has somebody transplanted a goldfish's memory in to your head? Just because FSG spent 300 mil on us doesn't mean a thing. If they sold it tomorrow then I'm sure they would get their money back.

I'll explain myself in potato head English so you can understand better.

They have said they are committed to both a stadium and success. They have said they can compete on a financial level with any club in the world. I want them to prove what they say. Action, not platitudes!

        Why is that unrealistic??
