I think AVB was the guy the owners had planned for the job originally, I am thinking thats why his name has come to the fold, surely his time at Chelsea would have dampened his light a bit! One things for sure about him, his tactics and style of play were good but a bad fit at the time for Chelseas squad. He wanted to play an expansive game with a highline with players that have spent the last 7 years as a compressed and disciplined unit. Our defenders would probably suit his style of play better. He was ensured he was part of a long term project so was brave enough to try wholesale changes but it turned out, he got sacked instead!
I am not the biggest fan but I think he got a bit of a rough ride at the blues.
I think AVB would come to us and he'll be an interesting manager..
I think he'll be given more time than KD was: chiefly because he'll be new to LFC and will need a settling in period.. Unlike Chelsea he won't be expected to hit the ground running and win every game..
After the honeymoon period has passed he'll then have to prove his worth..

why would he be given anymore time then KD ?? DO you think we are running a charity case ? You were one of the most vocal people on this board calling for kD to be sacked because you felt he had enough time.
if he really does need more time then i would say this not a good match (if he becomes manager that is)
i think owners should be smart and give new managers 1 yea contract to begin with. because us and chelskis seem to make our managers extremely rich people
HOBITEZ ..WITH U HERE THINK HIS PRESS HIGH UP THE FIELD would suit us its not that differnet from what KK tried to instill...could be hes just the man we need...and for me a big plus is he would keep benitez out of the managers chair ...lol. Seriously IF benitez were to get the job think season tickets would be going VERY cheap for the upcoming season.

If we wanna progress it's AVB if we wanna hire & fire then hire Martinez.. So the only reason why we'd hire Martinez is that he'll come cheaper than AVB to hire.He probably too would be more of a yes man than AVB..
However if we're serious about being in the top 4 or better. Then it's AVB for me. We're a better team ie friendier bunch than Chelsea's lot were..
Chelsea were never gonna give AVB a chance I'm guessing our players would?
I agree with what Hob says, his tactics would suit us. Other than Mourine or Pep or Hiddink which is unrealistic I would put AVB as my number 1 choice.
I dont understand the Martinez thing right now, why sack Kenny for half a good season and a cup win and swap for a guy who had quarter of a good season and no cup runs???

Ignore what happened at Chelsea and AVB is an interesting prospect. BUT it needs to be someone that would be willing to buy into the club and be prepared for the long haul. Ido not want some journey man comes in spends loads, perhaps we achieve something and moves on leaving a huge chasm to fill. i.e. no thought for the future beyond their time. football clubs need to be thinking about 10 years hence no this year and next.
Martinez is attractive because of how he built Swansea up. Rodgers took over and carried on. Every Summer martinez rebuilds the Wigan side after they've sold players to keep alive. They also play football as it should wit the ball on the floor. For me the loyalty he has shown Wigan is also an attractive characteristic. If that loyalty could be shown to a new club as well as meeting the other demands that being a Liverpool manager demands then it might have some legs.
