    Team to face Fulham?

After a very dissapointing result against Villa we have the next of our 'winnable' (what a dangerous word!) fixtures. It is so important to get the win on Saturday, I think we have to forget about the whole top 4 thing again till another run puts us within a sniff, if they can keep hold of the coat tails till we bring in some reinforcements then perhaps we have a chance. That is a lot of if's....
The Sterling contract is meant to be officially announced before the match and hopefully that will add a little boost too. Fulham are a decent side, Berbatov is playing some amazing stuff, we should have had him though I doubt United would have been too accomodating if we had mad an approach.
I think this is one team where playing high with possesion will be effective, they arent particularly pacey on the break though Rodellaga is a keen runner. Villa were very disciplined and punchy which isnt how I see fulham, though they are technically better.

John Arne Riise is a great player but we know he has no right foot so I would definitely be tempted with a lefty out on that side. Hangelland is another excellent player but he doesnt like being run at so this should be a good battle for Suaro.

Subs: Jones, Cole, Downing, Carragher, Shelvey, Sterling, Allen

Will Assaidi ever get in to the league team?!

    • No Allen I see. Giving him a break Hobs? Deserves one to be fair.

Our right hand side is a concern for me with that formation. When Johnson goes missing will Suso cover. Sterling isn't the best at it either and that usually results in Allen being pulled way out wide to cover (Gerrard is also missing at this point)

Fulham are a good side. Tough game.

      • I agree on principle in giving a couple lads a rest here, and do think Allen needs one, and Sterling while still playing well is a risk of burning out with some many games so young. However I might be tempted to play both of these, at least Sterling against Fulham, and rest them instead against Stoke on Boxing day, as I think the premium for the weekend is technical ability to get the best of Fulham, while Stoke we need a bit of metal as well. Also if Sterling does sign his new deal before this match I'd hope he'd be on a high which give him an extra spark.
