My humble opinion is that, yes, it has been. We have improved both our attacking options and the pace of the team.
Even though I know we are desperate for a LB and I really want us to get a man of steel in the middle, I'm happy to wait for those players. After all, integrating so many players at once is a recipe for disaster - look at Villa!
I'd say successful overall. Of course as fans we want everything under the sun so a LB, a hard man another back up keeper and of course Ince would have been nice, but realistically getting a good deal in January is a challenge without either overpaying, getting something that is less than is what is written on the outside of the tin, or both.
But I also think we can look at this as confidence in our owners. Yes again we always want them to spend more, but 3rd highest spend in the prem (and only on 2 players) only beaten by two clubs (QPR and Newcastle) who maybe fighting off relegation and were therefore forced to spend. So very hard to say FSG were not being supportive.
Bottom line we strengthened, not just from where we were in December but relative to the clubs around us, therefore I'd call it a success.

Is your determination, that we have had a successful transfer window, solely based on the fact that we actually bought 2 players to hopefully strengthen the team? Am I being a little too cautious in daring to hope that in the fullness of time the same two players will have successfully proved their worth by the end of the season and thus have equally proved that we have indeed enjoyed a successful transfer window by the same definition?
Dave, I think you need to worry more about FFP. Spending lots of dosh in the transfer windows may make the fans happy in the short term but what if you get banned from European competition in the longer term?
You should look at a club like Chelsea to see how to do it. Not only did CFC report a profit in the most recent accounts it also made a profit in the transfer window.
Hope this helps.
I would agree Loki, it has been a success. I thought we needed cover at left back but thought Enrique's injury was longer term. With Carra, Coates and Wisdom as cover and Kelly returning in around a month we should be ok.

Kelly's return is pretty important. That long term injury has made him a bit of a forgotten man. Let's hope he can get up to speed nice and quick and there's no recurrences etc.
Overall Sturridge has so far proved to be a successful buy. In comparison QPR paid £12.5 for Samba. hmmm. We'll see how Coutinho goes.
I'm encouraged by the fact tha when you step back and look at the squad overall it has a completely different look and feel to the one we had at the back end of last season. Last season it was disjointed, bloated and just wasn't right at all. Now we have players that more directly suit what Rodgers want to do, they're in the majority very young (which may or may not prove to be an issue ref Oldham!), it has pace and you ca see what's going on. There's a plan and direction. We're still short, make no bones about it. A good left back, a growing goal keeper issue and I still think we need something a bit special in the middle.
I'm also encourage to see that a few of the so called players that were easy picks to be moved on are all of a sudden making valid cases for Rodgers to have second thoughts.
Hopefully, we can turn this into results now. We still haven't beaten anyone in the top 10 and I think that improvement on our current postion will rely on that fact changing
Considering it is now begining to look a reasonabe possibility that Pepe Reina will move on this summer, and that Doni has now left us in this transfer window (I thought he already had?)I feel it is an omission on our part that young Jack Butland has been snapped up by Stoke for £3.5 and loaned back to Brum 'til the end of the season.????? Have we missed out?

Although I wanted additional cover at the back, and Ince (while I think he makes equal sense in the summer), I would also say yes.
We added a player who can become a top goal scorer, with bags of pace, talent and a multi-functional attacker in Daniel Sturridge, who's just 23 years old.
And, in Coutinho, we got the player for 2M less than Inter wanted, and 4M less than some other clubs were willing to pay. He won't have a massive impact immediately, but he's immensely talented, again with bags of pace, dribbling skills equal to that of Suarez, and again, another multi-functional attacking player who can even come from a bit deeper, plust he's only 20, so a long term player with tons of upside.
We got rid of Cole, loaned out Morgan, Ngoo, Wilson, and Pacheco who all needed to get regular playing time to see what they're made of and if they will have a future, while it also makes room for players who seem more ready made for the next step up in Yesil and Adorjan.. both amazing talents up top.
And, we didn't sell anyone to buy, or sell anyone we didn't want to. There was no rumblings far as I can see/read anywhere, so we have the biggest/most talented squad I can really remember, with a mix of youth and experience, and since nobody left or wanted to, it seems they're all committed to the cause..
And last, but certainly not least, we were THIRD in the EPL in spending, and on just 2 players vs QPR, and Newcastle, who were 2M and 1M ahead of us respectively, but brought in handfuls of players..
20.5M spent on two players, while Chelsea spent 8M, for 1 City no clue on a relatively unknown, Arsenal under 10 for their new LB, Spurs 0 for January, Everton 3-4M for a CB..
So, our owners laid out more money than any of the teams in front of us, with more funds available in the summer, for the likes of Ince, a CB, a GK, and whatever else Rodgers wants... And Rodgers will be here in the summer, barring some catastrophic finish..
