Andy C on his way back to Anfield ?

Hobs Colyn...what have u lads got against the lad ?...my feeling all along is that there was some bad blood between BR and the lad...what the hell else are we going to get for 10 mill or so he represents a plan B that we dont currently have that could in my estimation be worth at least 12pts come end of season...whats wrong with that ? He has to be worth another go round hes a professional and can play any system hes required to play and if he can get on the end of some of Downings crosses ( Nobody else seems able to ) he could be worth far more come end of season than 12pts.Another loan to save on his wages...nuts ! In the end he will become another complete financial disaster for the club like the Aquilani deal. End of last season the lad was playing well turned Terry inside out and upside down damn nearly won us the FA CUP with his "goal" played marvellously for England in ENC Who can forget his goal v Sweden ? What about the damage that he did to UniTURD putting himself about in the box who else have we got can do that ? Why do u think its impossible for BR to bury the hatchet and welcome him back ? Hell we are paying Sterling 40k a week and he cant even sit on the bench...dont notice u complaining about that Id rather sell Sterling on and welcome Andy back ...that way for all u amateur accountants out there the books balance maybe even a bit in the black on such a situation.

    • Whilst I believe every team, needs a plan B. As the season has progressed Andy will be lucky to be plan D. We already have two strong formations that are evident. I am sure with analysis, there are other variants employed too. Not that I am against Andy Carroll at all. With you I remember towards end of season 11-12, that finally things were looking promising in terms of his form and fitness.
What ever has happened at the club. BR has said you can not have a £35m player on the bench. We will have the spiel that the "lad needs to be playing week in, week out"

    • You have it wrong if you think I have a problem with Big Andy, ask Jason etc, I always come to the lads defence. As I have said all along, he never asked to cost £35m, if he was just a lad from the academy it would never be an issue and he would have been on the bench, started a few cup matches etc. I think he could have been useful in closing games out as much as chasing them, it is like having another centre half at defending corners, put it this way, he is easily better then Borini.

But if the manager doesn't fancy him for whatever reason then that is that and he has to go. It might be that there is £10m there he fancies going toward the next Sturridge, hopefully not the next Borini!

      • Its financial insanity to drop 25 mill on the lad without giving him a real chance to prove his worth to the club and if he did eventually go show he was a talent worth a whole lot more than some derisory 10 mill ofer from the club who sold him to us for 35 mill...seems to me u guys are just forming another In Rafa We Trust Brigade just subsitute Rogers for Rafa there...whatever Rogers says goes he dont like the lad I dont like the lad and he has to go sort of thing..but when u think about it he has a lot of attributes we could have really used in a whole number of games this season that migh have brought about a different result to that we got.

    • Fair points Colin I just don't think Rodgers likes him. I don't have a huge amount against him but I also don't think he fits very well either. Difficult for me to put my finger on why exactly. Perhaps it's because he hasn't quite grabbed his opportunity at Liverpool or West Ham but injuries certainly played a part in that. I've just got the impression that Rodgers couldn't get him out the door fast enough for whatever reason.

I agree that he can offer the "bull in the China Shop option" and on his day he can be a real menace to any back 4 but from where I stand.

Tactic changes come in many shapes and forms for me and I think it's important that you hold true to your core principles which in our case is not to lump it forward. You can still do various things like stretch teams out wide, counter attack, and tuck in and overlap from deep.

At the moment my biggest concern is some rather strange lack of motivation and a rather alarming gap or two that appear in midfield.

      • Colyn...as u say and Ive been saying for a long time I dont know what it is between him and Rogers but it seems to me there is defo BAD BLOOD....most managers would be well pleased to have Andy in their squad and I warrant most would start him....this boy can do some real damage and Like I say if he stays fit next season could easily as a Plan B option render us a good 12pts come end of season that we wouldnt have otherwise won.

    • Colin - I don't necessarily have anything against Carroll, but I ask myself how useful will he be in our current set-up. On the rare occasions he's played, what stands out for me is the fact that he is not very mobile at all, an essential attribute for the way the current team is set up, and he and Suarez could hardly be described as being on the same wavelength can they? You have to admit he has not set the world alight at West Ham, which is surprising as they are set up exactly the right way for a player of Carrolls type.

I don't think Rodgers has had a falling out with him, I think he was honest from the start. You can't slag Rodgers off for that because how many times do you see new managers ditching players who you may think could have a role? All the time!

I think we need to take the loss on the chin a d get rid of him, even to Newcastle. If his money allows us to bring in a more suitable player for our system, then so be it.

      • Loki Jason...lads I believe the lad has talent he turns on a dime for a big fellah he has agreat shot on the turn he is dynamite in the air but needs some service to prove it...Stuart Downing on current form could be the supplier...why allthis insistence that if we play him it has to be with long balls hoofed down the middle tactics? Leave him up front to keep defences honest and let Downing get to the byline and send in those fast crosses high or low and u could see a high scoring Andy C plus he has great ability in holding up the ball up front until others are involved inthe play...something for all the criticism of the lad Emile Hesky also did well for us granted he never scored too many though. He also brings to the side something nobody else does withthe exception of maybe Stevie and Carra he can "put it about" in the box and cause real chaos which should make us far more proficient at profiting from corners and other set pieces. Thing is his wages are likely to cost us close to 3 mill the loan fee from WHU was 3 mill so another such loan fee or a rock bottom price from Newcastle for him ...10 mill ? What are u going to get for that maybe another Sturridge...a fair to middling forward but hardly world class or worse case scenario another Borini ! I just think its worth getting behind the lad giving support and lets just see if given that support he can deliver big time for us...I dont follow how u feel a manager would toss out a club record signing without even giving him a chance to show what hes got without there being personal issues behind it...u think if Torres had still been here with us #$%$ though he was at the death Rogers would have shown him the door because.."He doesnt suit my style of play and my plans."...te fans would have built a bonfire and stuck Rogers on the top of it !

      • Jason...u post on Andy C is nonesense. No.1 Rogers didnt purchase Andy C and therefore feels free to toss him overboard from the club with no consequences to himself..ie blame it all on Kenny and just make the excuse "HE doesnt suit my style of play." When I said any other Prem manager would be happy to have him on the books I meant were they to find themselves in Rogers place where its as if he came for free to him as as I say Rogers didnt make the buy every other manager would keep him WHU PAID A 3 MILL LOAN FEE to us for him and obviously dont have the cash to fess up another 17 mill to us for his services hence them not taking up their "option to buy "
No2 ...u fail when discussing his time at WHU to mention how much of the season he has spent out of the side injured that time alone might have seen him play sufficient matches to be a major scorer in Prem and therefore have lead to him winning those 12pts I mentioned he was capable of winning for a side by end of season...so it seems very convenient for u being a member of the IRWT BRIGADE ( Its no longer RAFA the second letter refers to its now Rogers ) to gloss over his absence from the side through injury.
You speak of certain poor results the only result that matters to me this season so far has been the last one the totally spineless performance at St. Mary's where we were lucky not to be heading back to Liverpool with a club record cricket score like defeat...it was very nearly turning into a complete rout and Rogers couldnt do a damned thing about it other than sit around looking his usual glum self ! You say the problem hasnt been scoring its been defending ..will give u that weve witnessed some poor defending from time to time this season but of course the problem IS scoring u need to put the ball in the back of the net more times than the opposition ...how else do u think u get three pts out of any game ??? Its better to win five games 1.0 than to win one 5.0 (Norwich) and lose the other four. Its not how many u score in a match more where and when u score those goals.
The other thing is it amazes me that for people so concerned about the clubs accounts and the FFP thing that so many are ready to take an immediate massive loss on Andy C...He is not a 10 mill bench warmer like Borini a man incidentally that u and Steer same intent on giving innumerable opportunities to prove he has ability and can contribute when he clearly has no ability yet where Andy C is concerned its "GET RID GET 10 MILL AND GET HIM DOWN THE ROAD !" So u are more than ready to see a 25 mill loss registered on the accounts ? One good season and this lad who is still young with his best yrs ahead of him and he could prove to be World Class and a prolific goalscorer..but rid of him for ten mill and maybe he could just go back to the TOON and come back to Anfield with them...and bury us ! Just like Southampton nearly did the other week...I think u need to rethink on the Andy C issue and consider that it may well be worth paying the approx 3 mill wages and just see if he can "prove his worth" and if he does if we do ultimately sell him we may even recoup that which was spent on him or close enough to it thereby making th club accounts look far better than they do currently rather than making them look even worse.

      • Loki u say its worth having 10 mill toward a player more suited to "our" system...that system looked totally defunct at St Mary's mate so dont se why after such a pathetic spineless display and Rogers inability to stem the rout (IT COULD HAVE EASILY TURNED INTO A CLUB RECORD DEFEAT ) u show such faith in BR...like i say sounds like another IRWT BRIGADE forming here.
