How to be 1 nil down and win 2-1

Another great win from the comeback kings, the lads never let their heads drop and showed more fighting spirit than Chelsea. Was great to see the Riverside get behind the team and inspire a win for Gareth Southgates first home game in charge. We were lucky not to concede more goals..but at least we took our chances well....but then again...thats football...its never black and white.(wink)

    • How to be 1-0 up and win 0-0. How embarrassing that Newcastle are representing the North East and English football in the UEFA cup this year. Last might they just didn't have a clue against a side a Premiership side should have been expected to trounce. Still they've thrown some more money at the problem so perhaps they will improve, but past records say they won't.
As for Roy Kean as Manager of any club, what odds on him not being in the job at Christmas. Temper, high expectations, frustration, lack of real money and the drop in standard between Premiership and Championship will all take its toll on Kean's physche

      • Re: Keane # it remains to be seen of course, but I'd swap him for Southgate. He has been given about 20mill to spend and he seems to have signed some decent (1st division) players. I was also mightily impressed with his press conference.

As Roy said when asked about lack of experience ~ "You've had three very experienced managers here in the last few years and look what they did."

Not only will he be there @ Xmas, I think he could well be in the Premiership at least by 2008... at the moment (early doors, but I have a bad feeling), I wouldn't bet on us being there with them.
