I take your point CJ but remember Wenger is also looking to Arsenal's progress in the Champions League too, and as such has the revenue to protect from one more competition which is very lucrative. You will recall MacLaren gave a number of youngsters starting places in the UEFA cup games. A good run in the League Cup and FA Cup is vital to Boro in terms of revenue, but I do agree Boro just didn't turn up mentally against Cardiff and had too high a mountain to climb after the second goal! I can't help thinking that had Boro beaten Cardiff, we'd be looking forward to another season in Europe now.
Now then KH, thanks for the reply. Our revenue would increase if we started producing some good displays of attacking football.
Higher attendance figures at the Riverside would lead to a better atmosphere for us as the home team and hopefully more home wins which last season were few and far between.
The cup runs are vital but all I am saying is, get the younger, fringe players on at the start, they have been playing together regularly for years, they won the youth FA cup 4 or 5 years ago and we can still have the likes of Alves and #$%$ the bench if needed...especially in the two legged Carling cup ties. If we are not careful our bright young prospects will leave for other teams in the search for first team football.

Speaking of people leave...Luke Young to Villa for 5m!!
Not sure this is a good idea at all. The back line has an unproven keeper. Wheater one season, Huth not often fit, Poggy has it, Taylor still young. Tony M was great when he was playing but still a youth layer and has been out of action for 2 years with broken legs.
Dont think we want to be selling such experience and a solid performer for ony 5m. Yes it doubles our cash on him but is that money really so badly needed?
I hope he stays, but it seems unlikely with all the press speculation.
