Name calling is the only thing in his armoury, so don't sit around waiting for a gem of a put down to come your way, as it's not likely to happen!

Happy with Given although nowt wrong with Brad............But hey ho!

We have met the asking price for Nzogbia, so i don't see the problem.............And he is half the price of downing but just as good IMO

  • That close to the truth was I!

To bring you up to speed with the ins/outs at Villa.

The outs are the cream and the (quality) coming in the other revolving door is.........................NOBODY!

OK, we are in for C Nzogbia and if we get him, i would be very happy but.......................we ain't got him yet!

    prem rules changed!

    Go easy on him!

Your answer contained many words longer than 2 syllables........................How the 'F' is he going to understand that?

Seriously though. The very fact he spews all over the boards with anti English retoric, proves that envy runs through his veins.

I presume he's envious, as his Scottish team (whoever they are. A Jambo is a Hearts fan, yeh??), can't afford to rest players as the local school would kick their arse if they did!!!

    Sneijder transfer

    by Jon Jul 15, 2011 05:38
    A Yahoo! User Jul 15, 2011 07:00 Flag

On the flip side.....................With the Prem being full of over-seas players that are no better than English talent but a heck of a lot cheaper to buy and pay..............it would be great to see Sneijder plying his trade here, as the top stars are what the Prem used to be all about.

Yes, we have some great players from over-seas but not in the same abundance as years ago.

No more Bergkamp, Cantona, Solskar, Viera (in his prime), Vialli, Zola, Henry, Klinsman, Asprilla, Ginola, Schmeichel, Jay Jay Okacha, Hamman, Juninho, Tony Yeboha and last but not least Di canio

You can't knock Viera's trophy haul.

In terms of midfield greats listed earlier in this thread...................I can't agree with P Scholes!

Very good is my limit.....................But not a great or legend of the game.

    Sneijder transfer

    A Yahoo! User Jul 15, 2011 06:40 Flag

I make nothing of it at all.

Clearly all the speculation was not for nothing, and Man U have tried very hard to get Mr Sneijder................Alas, Man U couldn't attract him!

It is not easy getting a top player who is happy where he is, as it's already a top club and man U have found that despite offering to keep him on a massive wage, he clearly feels that Man U have no better a chance of European glory than Milan...............And he would be right..............So why leave???

You have signed some potentialy great players recently............But the showcase signing isn't going to happen.

Only 2 clubs have the aura to attract those players away from top clubs and that is Barca and Real M...................One other club does not have the aura but has bottomless pockets (Man City if you were wondering)..................So Man U in reality are looking to pick up the top players that these 3 clubs don't want/need or are surplus to requirements.

    Wesley is staying put

Liverpool bid 15 mill 4 Downing

    Hi Alan

I think 20 million, or even 18 as i read is good money for him. But then, it's a matter of personal opinion as to the fee etc.

I understand those who think him a disloyal sod, as we bought him when Liverpool were in for him but bulked at the fact he was carrying a long term injury at the time............Villa stuck with him and showed faith in him, got him into the England side and now he wants to leave.

However, fans see things through loyal eyes and players don't have the same feeling.

I would like to see the money for him and Young invested.Maybe even getting Milner back and playing him through the middle, as he had his best games with Villa through the middle and Man City are never going to play him there regularly............In fact, they probably won't play him regularly full stop.

I think (hope) Delph and Bannon come to show their potential this year............................and then we will probably sell them on as well!!!

    Essien Out for 6 Months!

Chelsea have tried home grown youngsters and found them to be lacking.

Remember when many players were sold to fit in with the FIFA rules on income and expenditure?......................backfired and Chelsea have been signing big ever since.

In his pomp, Essien is the type of foreigner that graces the Prem, instead of just being a Johny Foreigner who is only there because he's cheaper than over priced English talent.

Injuries seem to be an all to regular occurance for him at the moment....................shame.

    Very true Jim.

It's all creative accounting and smoke and mirrors.

So Man City have a sponsorship deal worth £400,000,000.

Being a bit cynical, could it be the impending rules where you can only play in Europe if you spend a maximum proportion of your income on wages/transfers?..............................Now they have 400 million extra income, all of a sudden their out-goings compared to income isn't so bad!!!

    I smell a rat!!!

    Hi Alan

IMO you could call every club outside the top 5 a "Half way House Club"......................Maybe Spurs don't give their top players away so easily but as with Berbatov, they do in the end. The same will happen to Modric. Villa held on to Barry in the same kind of way as Spurs do but had to let him go in the end.

For me, selling on our top players (if they are hunted, not by hawking them to other clubs, as i don't believe this to be the case), is just the way it is...............and to be honest, clubs like Villa need the money to a certain degree, just like Blackpool are probably very happy with the C Adam fee.

I think the lower down the food chain you go, the more you are unable to resist a big offer, or the players ambition to move on (for glory or money...or both?).

Even Man U and Arsenal have to give way on accassions, i.e. Ronaldo, Tevez, Nasri etc........But granted, their are only a select few clubs that can attract offers clubs can't refuse or offers players can't refuse. But that is their good fortune and 100% the reason great players like Gigg etc play an entire career at one club..................Naff all to do with loyalty and everything to do with moey and glory already in their hands.

So in short, i won't knock Villa or any club outside the top 5 for selling assets (especially ones that want to leave)............It's just the way it is.

PS. Unless anyone knows different, it would appear that only Barca and Madrid (maybe Milan), who don't seem to get 1st team regular players wanting to leave..............But then every food chain has a top chief?

    Alan.........Just expessing an opinion.

My view is that as he wants to leave, let him and maximise the money and re-invest.

I clearly rate him a little less than you do buy I would still love him to stayand say to Liverpool "big pay rise or not, I do not want to leave Villa"............We all know footballers these days when they get lucrative moves blocked. Toys out the pram and less effort.

I'm not sure it's a mistake. If he wants to leave then it makes sense to get as much as you can.

As for being class..................At times at Boro the guy had 5 or 6 games in a row where he looked not just class but World Class.............And at other times he was totaly pants for the next 8 games.

IMO. He wants to leave, so get shot but PLEASE re-invest the money for him and Young.

  • It's been rejected but I say let him go (hopefully Liverpool are daft enough to up it a bit).

If it's re-invested, let him go
