The Minnesota Twins placed starting pitcher Joe Ryan on the COVID-19 injured list on Wednesday, bumping the surging rookie from his upcoming turn. Ryan was scheduled to pitch on Thursday against Kansas City. Manager Rocco Baldelli said Ryan was “doing OK.”
The basics of hitting and scoring have been a persistent difficulty for Detroit this season. With a few big swings, one of the least productive lineups in baseball helped the Tigers avoid another sweep in Minnesota. Jeimer Candelario hit the tiebreaking two-run homer in the 10th inning after Harold Castro went deep twice earlier, and the Tigers came back to beat the Twins 4-2 on Wednesday.
Everyone is looking for the best way to score with homers down. Are the Twins on the leading edge of the next trend?
