Jack Suwinski doesn't step into the batter's box trying to hit home runs. The Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder is hitting them anyway. The 23-year-old flipped a full-count pitch just over the rail above the Clemente Wall at PNC Park in the sixth inning on Wednesday to erase a three-run deficit, the spark the Pirates used to rally for a 10-5 victory over Colorado.
Connor Joe singled home the tiebreaking run in the top of the 10th inning and the Colorado Rockies slipped past the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 on Tuesday night. With one out, Joe grounded his hit up the middle off David Bednar (1-1), scoring automatic runner Sam Hilliard from second base. Joe ran his on-base streak to 21 games, and Jose Iglesias had two hits for the Rockies.
