11 brilliant FIFA 17 Ultimate Team bargains for under 2,000 coins

FIFA’s Ultimate Team is all about signing the best players the world has to offer. However, you’ll need plenty of coins (and luck!) to do so, and in the meantime, you’ll probably want to fill your squad with high-quality bargains to remain competitive on the field.

Fortunately, there are loads of low-cost gems out there. We’ve put together a selection of all-gold players you can normally find for under 2,000 coins on the transfer market. Pick wisely, as both their individual chemistry styles and your team chemistry level will have a big effect on how they perform.

As always, be aware that the market price of FUT 17 cards can change on a whim. The following prices are accurate at the time of writing.

1. Marc-André ter Stegen (GK)

Potential cost: 1.4k

Need to know: Barcelona’s highly-rated young keeper has already amassed nine caps for the German national side at the age of 24. That’s no easy feat for a country blessed with incredibly talented shot-stoppers - and with a range of fantastic attributes in-game, Ter Stegen is an excellent signing to employ between the sticks.

2. Mario Gaspar (RB)

Potential cost: 1.6k

Need to know: Gaspar has plied his trade at Villarreal in La Liga his entire career thus far, and made his debut for the Spanish national side in 2015. In addition to excellent sprint speed and acceleration stats, the right-back also benefits from 87 stamina and 83 marking in FUT 17.

3. Patrice Evra (LB)

Potential cost: 1.2k

Need to know: French legend Patrice Evra may not be getting any younger at 35 years old, but remains an excellent Ultimate Team acquisition. The Marseille left-back enjoys a strong level of pace in-game, while his wide range of skills in defence (including 89 jumping and 87 balance) can prove invaluable.

4. Joel Matip (CB)

Potential cost: 1.5k

Need to know: Liverpool’s new defensive signing has enjoyed an impressive first year at Anfield. His Premier League success has also been represented in-game with a recent winter update, boosting his overall rating from 82 to 83. Matip is a rock in defence, sporting 89 heading, 86 marking and 85 standing tackle stats.

5. Kalidou Koulibaly (CB)

Potential cost: 1.9k

Need to know: Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is blessed with a commanding frame, lending perfectly to his 93 strength stat in FUT 17. The Senegal international has quickly emerged as one of Serie A’s best defenders, and signed a five-year deal with his current club back in 2016.

6. Daniele De Rossi (CDM)

Potential cost: 1.8k

Need to know: Legend of Italian football and loyal servant to Roma, Daniele De Rossi has achieved a mass of honours throughout his career. The 2006 World Cup winner sits perfectly as a defensive-minded central midfielder in FUT 17, particularly when combined with the Anchor chemistry style.

7. Domenico Berardi (RW)

Potential cost: 1.7k

Need to know: At just 21 years of age, Berardi became the all-time top scorer of Serie A’s Sassuolo. He’s a highly-rated young talent, and has been subject to plenty of transfer speculation in recent months. His 88 sprint speed, 87 acceleration and 87 agility stats are just a few prime reasons to snag him for your side.

8. Taison (CAM)

Potential cost: 1.2k

Need to know: The incredible 92 pace of Taison demands attention in FUT 17, and his 90 agility, 86 dribbling and 86 ball control only add to the Brazilian’s destructive potential. The attacking midfielder has won the Ukrainian Premier League twice with Shakhtar Donetsk, and made two substitute appearances for his national team in 2016.

9. Loic Remy (ST)

Potential cost: 1.2k

Need to know: Veterans of FIFA Ultimate Team know that Loic Remy has traditionally excelled as one of the mode’s top bargains. The Chelsea loanee (currently at Crystal Palace) remains just as influential in FUT 17, spearheaded by his incredible 89 pace. He’s also blessed with 90 jumping and 81 heading attributes.

10. Ahmed Musa (ST)

Potential cost: 1k

Need to know: Leicester’s talented striker has yet to make a significant impact in the Premier League, but remains a valuable acquisition in FUT 17. The highly capped Nigerian merits his place due to his incredible speed, excellent dribbling and high stamina, and his 88 balance stat only adds to his attacking prowess.

11. Yevhen Konoplyanka (LM)

Potential cost: 1.2k

Need to know: Ukraine international Yevhen Konoplyanka is currently on loan at Schalke from Sevilla, and may yet make a permanent switch if rumours are to be believed. The three-time Ukrainian Footballer of the Year benefits from 93 acceleration and 86 dribbling stats, and is sure to cause problems for any Ultimate Team side.
