11 Liverpool players including Mohamed Salah slammed in scathing attack after Forest defeat

Eleven Liverpool players including Mohamed Salah have been slated for their performance against Nottingham Forest in a scathing attack.

The Reds fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of their opponents as Anfield was stunned into silence, having witnessed Arne Slot's side fail to pick up all three points in a game they were expected to win.

The Dutchman could do nothing to prevent his side from falling to its first defeat of the season in his fourth game in charge, and his players have since taken the brunt of the criticism following an uninspiring display.

In fact, former Reds midfielder Don Hutchison could not contain his anguish at what he saw today, slating each of the starting XI and even criticizing those who came off the bench for their failure to impact the game.

The 53-year-old also gave Forest its fair share of praise for a "deserved" victory following a "brilliant gameplan" from manager Nuno Espirito Santo, but it was his scathing attack on Liverpool's players that highlighted how poor the Reds were in the 1-0 defeat.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Hutchison said that Ibrahima Konate had committed too many fouls, while Trent Alexander-Arnold "wasted passes." The Scotsman also claimed Liverpool's midfield three of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were all "average".

Perhaps the most alarming criticism of the lot from Hutchison was how he felt Salah gave the ball away "so much", highlighting the minimal impact the Egyptian had on the game despite enjoying such a strong start to the campaign.

Prior to the game, Liverpool had won all three of its fixtures and was the only side yet to concede a single goal this season. On top of that, the Reds had blown away Manchester United at Old Trafford in its previous match.

As for Salah, the 32-year-old had bagged three goals and three assists in the first three games of 2024-25, yet appeared a shadow of his former self against Nottingham Forest in the 1-0 defeat at Anfield.

Hutchison even added that none of Slot's second-half subs - Conor Bradley, Kostas Tsimikas, Curtis Jones, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez - impacted the game, claiming they all offered "nothing" as the game eventually petered out to a dull defeat.

The result leaves Liverpool three points behind early leaders Manchester City and will require a big response not only in next week's fixture against Bournemouth, but also on Tuesday when the Reds travel to face AC Milan in the Champions League.

If another performance similar to today's ensues, then the Reds can expect to come under more fire - and perhaps force Slot into making some considerable changes to his starting XI in order to address the issues and avoid dropping any more points.
