19-Year-Old Phenom Sage Northcutt Returns at UFC Fight Night 80

Rory MacDonald Believes 19-Year-Old UFC Newcomer Sage Northcutt Has Bright Future

Just as UFC strawweight Paige VanZant found immediate stardom when she entered the Octagon, so has her 19-year-old counterpart Sage Northcutt. And now, he'll be joining her on the UFC Fight Night 80 event slated for Dec. 10 in Las Vegas.

UFC officials on Monday announced that Northcutt, fresh off of his UFC debut, would be making his return on Dec. 10 to face Cody Pfister.

Northcutt is 6-0 after having dispatched Francisco Trevino in 57 seconds at UFC 192 earlier this month. He's only 19 years old, but Northcutt has model-like looks, a dynamic and athletic style, and an All-American demeanor that has equated into a red-hot arrival in the UFC.

VanZant was cut from a similar cloth and is already headlining the UFC Fight Night 80 card.

Pfister, on the other hand, entered the Octagon at 11-3-1, but lost his debut bout before bouncing back with a unanimous decision win over Yosdenis Cedeno in July. He could build some solid momentum if he's able to put an end to the Nortchutt Express.

VanZant headlines the card in what should amount to her toughest test to date, when she squares off with Joanne Calderwood.

UFC Fight Night 80 kicks off the promotion's three-night stand in Las Vegas. VanZant vs. Calderwood takes place Thursday night, The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale: Edgar vs. Mendes is also in Sin City on Friday night, and then UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor caps a stacked week on the UFC's home turf.
