20 Premier League stadiums in 24 hours for football-mad fundraising youngsters

A team of football-mad youngsters from the Isle of Wight are trying to visit all 20 Premier League grounds in just 24 hours, this weekend.

Mountbatten will benefit from the whistle-stop tour - scroll down for a link to the fundraising page.

Six boys, who play junior football for Isle of Wight and mainland teams, will travel more than 1,000 miles, accompanied by three adult leaders.

After a seven hour drive yesterday, they started at St James's Park in Newcastle this morning (Saturday, March 25).

They and are making their way south, via grounds including Manchester City, before finishing at Bournemouth FC on tomorrow (Sunday, March 26).

Craig Egerton-Read, said: "This is no mean feat but we have calculated that this should be possible, with hopefully an hour or two to spare.

"Visiting the London clubs overnight should give us a better chance of avoiding traffic in the more congested areas.

"The boys have been involved in planning the best route."

In an update to the Isle of Wight County Press from the 'sunny A1M', as they head south to Leeds, Craig said: "Got to avoid the England U21 game at Leicester at 5pm.

"All donations, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated."
