The 2022-23 Premier League injury table: Liverpool top, Man Utd above Arsenal…
Injuries are the bane of every Premier League squad, but Chelsea and Liverpool have faced more absentees through injury than Arsenal and Manchester United this season.
United boss Erik ten Hag came out swinging during his press conference before their Europa League match at Real Betis, bemoaning his side’s misfortune with injuries while identifying Arsenal’s clean bill of health.
“Man City home [2-1 victory in January], it was the only time this season [that United had a fully fit squad], in other times, every time, every game is a player suspended, injured, illness,” Ten Hag said. “So we have to deal with it well, of course, you hope.
“I see Arsenal, they almost have all the time a squad that is totally available.”
But, while United have suffered more injuries than Arsenal this season, their woes are nothing compared with Chelsea or Liverpool.
For Chelsea, the likes of Reece James, Thiago Silva and Wesley Fofana have faced long spells on the sidelines during the 2022-23 campaign – and that’s just the defence. At one point this season, Graham Potter had to deal with an entire XI of sidelined players.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have rarely been able to name a settled XI as injuries have added to their difficulties this year.
And Jurgen Klopp will be holding his head in his hands following the news that impressive youngster Stefan Bajcetic will miss the remainder of the season with an abductor injury.
We’ve totalled up all the matches missed by injured players at every Premier League team to rank them by games missed.
