Queensland and New South Wales have named their squads for the first State of Origin clash of the 2022 series.

New Queensland coach Billy Slater has included four debutants in his squad. Game one is set to be played at Accor Stadium, Sydney, on June 8.

North Queensland Cowboys forwards Reuben Cotter and Jeremiah Nanai have both been rewarded for their impressive starts to the season.

Brisbane Broncos winger Selwyn Cobbo is also set to make his Queensland debut. The 19-year-old has played just 19 games in the NRL, crossing for 12 tries. He has scored 10 tries in 12 appearances in 2022, including a hat-trick against Manly Sea Eagles. Brisbane forward Patrick Carrigan has also been named for the first time.

Gold Coast Titans captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui moves to prop to replace Christian Welch, who suffered a season-ending injury in the opening round

Despite their slow start to the season, Newcastle Knights full-back Kalyn Ponga has been named at full-back. Dragons half-back Ben Hunt has been named at starting hooker.
