£25m Arsenal man is ‘not for sale’ and Gunners make ‘official offer’ for France U21 defender
According to reports, Arsenal have decided that attacker Emile Smith Rowe is ‘not for sale’ amid interest from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.
Smith Rowe was expected to be an important player for Arsenal during the 2022/23 campaign. This is after he scored ten Premier League goals during the 2021/22 season.
But the Englishman missed much of the 22/23 campaign after suffering a serious groin injury. He returned to full fitness during the run-in but he was unable to start a single game for Arsenal in the Premier League.
His lack of game time for Arsenal of late has fuelled talk that he could leave the club before next season. Earlier this week, it was claimed that Mikel Arteta is plotting a ‘brutal 12-player clear-out’ and Smith Rowe could be out of the door.
But this is refuted by 90min, who claim Arsenal have ‘no plans to sell’ Smith Rowe. Their report adds.
‘Despite playing just 161 minutes of Premier League football, sources have told 90min that Arsenal have no intention of selling and hope Smith Rowe, who was previously the subject of rejected bids from Aston Villa worth at least £25m, can recapture his best form next season.
The Gunners are also finalising a contract extension for winger Reiss Nelson, who is set to sign a new long-term contract despite concerns of his own around game time.’
Arsenal will be back in the Champions League next season so they need to strengthen their squad over the next couple of months.
While Declan Rice is their top target, they are also looking to sign new defenders and they are being linked with Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey.

The 22-year-old signed for the Turkish outfit from Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2021 and he helped them win the Super Lig title this season.
Ben White shone at right-back in 22/23 but Arsenal were short on options in that area of the pitch with Takehiro Tomiyasu struggling for fitness and form.
Boey would be a useful addition as he is reportedly viewed by Arsenal as a potential alternative to Ivan Fresneda.
Hürriyet (via Sport Witness) are now reporting that Arsenal have made an ‘official offer of €14m’ to Galatasaray for Boey, but they are holding out for €20m.
This is unlikely to deter Arsenal as they are ‘expected to raise their offer’ and ‘there’s a high probability of Boey leaving Galatasaray in the summer.
