Only a miraculous 6-1 comeback spared Barcelona's blushes after being humiliated by Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League Last 16 in March. The Catalans have slipped up in La Liga twice since and were once more soundly beaten in Europe again this week.
Juventus ran out 3-0 winners as Barça made the trip to Turin for a repeat of the 2015 final and now have a commanding lead ahead of the second leg that will require more miracles from Luis Enrique's team if they are to now reach the last four.
According to a report published by Mundo Deportivo, Enrique held the most difficult team meeting of his tenure after the embarrassment in Italy.
It is said the Camp Nou legend, whose planned departure at the end of the season has already been confirmed, took a 'hard tone' and was critical of his players over their attitude in the game.
He apparently also blasted the performance for a lack of 'ambition and daring', something that he feels has been an issue too many times this season.
The suggestion is that Gerard Pique, Javier Mascherano and Neymar came in for a particular telling off. It is said Enrique wasn't happy with the way Pique was operating in the tactical system, was 'despairing' at Mascherano, and wanted Neymar to play higher up the pitch.
Before focusing on fixing the problems for when Juve arrive at Camp Nou for the return leg later this month, Barça must now turn their attention to keeping their increasingly slim La Liga title hopes alive with a home fixture against Real Sociedad on the calendar this weekend.
