6 Nations exclusive: Scotland skipper Lisa Martin's fourth Yahoo blog

Scotland Women’s captain Lisa Martin looks ahead to the match against Italy in round three of the Women’s Six Nations.

It’s hard to believe we're about to play the third round of the 2016 Women’s Six Nations. Everyone involved in the squad has been working hard to improve on the pitch, while also enjoying themselves.

It was great to see one another again at BT Murrayfield after a week off to fuel up and ship out for the continent.

We arrived in Bologna last night after a day of travel so it was good to get a decent training session under out belt this morning. Not only to stretch the legs but to acclimatise to the Italian conditions.

The mood in camp is confident, while also reserved. We know there are some areas we need to work on yet we're taking some strong positives from the Wales game and continuing to build on them.

The public support coming off the back of the last game in Neath has really buoyed the squad, we want to make the fans and our close ones proud every time we pull on the Scotland jersey.

The squad to face Italy is settled and it’s great to see a mix of youth and experience. There are two changes to the starting line-up – Jenny Maxwell and Eilidh Sinclair are promoted from the bench - and a new player- Claire Bains – has joined us as a replacement.

Every game is an opportunity for us as to step up and continue to show the improvements and ambitions we have. Italy will be no exception. We're under no illusions that it'll be a tough, competitive game, but with accuracy in our attack and ferocious defence we're confident we can take another step forward as a squad and really challenge our hosts.

We’ll be checking out the ground - Stadio Arcoveggio – tomorrow at the captain’s run and getting used to the surroundings before running out there and playing the best we can on Sunday.

Thanks for your support!
