7-Eleven Announced a Seriously Confounding Release Fit for April Fool’s

New York City is known for its dirty water dogs, but 7-Eleven is taking its in-house tube meat cuisine to the next level.

The convenience store known for its quick-service foods just announced a new product that nobody likely asked for. Inspired by the signature Big Bite Hot Dog, an all-beef hot dog topped with nacho cheese and all the fixings, 7-Eleven is releasing its own Big Bite Hot Dog sparkling water. Um, no thanks? 

The convenience store chain’s limited-edition sparkling water line with artsy beverage brand Miracle Seltzer offers unique but more conventional flavors including Green Apple, Lemon Lime, and Sweet Orange. A processed beef-flavored bubbly water with a hint of jalapeño aftertaste just does not seem like it will hit the spot.

"7-Eleven is constantly in pursuit of innovative, unique experiences for our customers, and the 7-Select x Miracle Seltzer lineup is sure to delight even the most adventurous of palates,” said Marissa Jarratt, 7-Eleven’s executive vice president. “We’re excited for customers to embark on this flavor adventure and experience their favorite snack in a whole new form."

Luckily for consumers, 7-Eleven will release more details about its hot dog sparkling water on Monday, April 1, which is, of course, April Fool’s Day. Unfortunately for thirsty prank victims, the sparkling water may be real. Miracle Seltzer created a pickle juice-infused carbonated water in 2020 as a collaboration with the animated adult series Rick and Morty. Pickle Rick Miracle Seltzer sold out quickly and is still available for resale on eBay.     

Still, we can’t yet confirm if 7-Eleven’s alleged hot dog sparkling water will be offered in stores. If you’re looking forward to ketchup and mustard-essenced sparkling water, you may just have to DIY it, as 7-Eleven has a robust history of April Fool’s Day pranks.

On April 1, 2022, the chain posted a viral TikTok debuting the “Tiny Gulp,” a 7-cent, 0.7-ounce cup to fill at a miniaturized drink station like the ones typically used for the brand’s signature 30-ounce Big Gulp Cups. In 2021, the chain traded Twitter feeds with the alt-rock band 311, pranking followers and attracting new attention to the convenience store’s social media presence.  

Hot dog water isn’t completely unheard of, however. In 2022, Martin House Brewing Company, in Fort Worth, Texas, released a limited-edition hard seltzer brewed with leftover hot dog water, designed to taste like a refreshing and boozy hot dog. And in 2020, convenience store Sheetz released a seasonal craft beer brewed with hot dogs for Memorial Day weekend.  

Nothing like a little meat in your H2O.
