Sergio García had to wait 21 years for the major win that even his most partisan followers had started to believe would never arrive.

In his 74th attempt at a major—his first was at The Open Championship in 1996—Spaniard García defeated Justin Rose at Augusta National in a sudden-death playoff at the 18th hole to win The Masters 2017.
