Liverpool may soon find themselves in the unwanted position of being forced to replace one of their best players in recent years. Mohamed Salah's future remains the subject of speculation as his contract situation remains unresolved.

Salah's current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen if an extension will be agreed. Talks remain underway between Liverpool and Salah's representatives, with the Reds still in negotiations with the 32-year-old's agent, Ramy Abbas, over a new deal.

Salah partook an interview on Sunday after scoring a brace in Liverpool's 3-2 win over Southampton, where he admitted he is yet to receive a new contract offer from the club. The Egyptian went on to say he is "disappointed" not have have seen a breakthrough with negotiations as his contract uncertainty goes on.

In the event that Liverpool and Salah do not reach an agreement over a new contract, the club will be forced to seek a replacement in the transfer market. Several players who perform in Salah's position have been linked with moves to Anfield in recent weeks, but could any be genuine targets for the Reds?

Rayan Cherki

Lyon star Rayan Cherki has recently been heavily linked with a potential move to Liverpool. The France international is reported to be valued at around £25million and has also been linked a move to the Bundesliga.

Cherki signed a new contract with Lyon that runs until the summer of 2026, and reports have suggested a move in January is a possibility. It remains to be seen, though, if Liverpool's interest is genuine and, if so, whether or not they decide to bring the player to Anfield.

Mohammed Kudus

West Ham star Mohammed Kudus has been linked with Liverpool for several months. The Ghana international has an £85 million release clause in his contract that becomes eligible next summer.

Kudus has proven Premier League experience and is likely to be the subject of interest from rival clubs next summer. Whether Liverpool will be in the running, though, is unclear, but the 24-year-old has shown that he is capable of performing in the same role as Salah.

Omar Marmoush

Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window. The Egypt international is reported to be valued at €40 million (£33.4 million) and has even been tipped to be a potential successor to Salah.

Marmoush has scored 14 goals with 10 assists in 17 appearances for Frankfurt this season. That form has seen the forward tipped to leave the Bundesliga outfit in January, with Liverpool the club deemed the most likely destination based on reports.

Bryan Mbeumo

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks. The forward has been one of the Bees' star players ever since their promotion to the Premier League, which has led to speculation that he could sign for a new club.

Mbeumo has scored eight goals in the Premier League this season and is behind only Salah and Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race. Whether a move is possible in January remains to be seen, but if the 25-year-old continues his form then it becomes more likely that clubs could show an interest.

Antoine Semenyo

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this year thanks to his form with the Cherries. The forward had a goal disallowed against the Reds at Anfield back in September.

Reports have claimed that Liverpool have been monitoring Semenyo ahead of a potential move in 2025. With four goals in the Premier League this season, should that form continue, then it would not be a surprise to see Liverpool showing an interest in the New Year or next summer.
